Very sorry for your situation - honestly. I've been where you are and there's lessons to be learned that you shouldn't throw away - you have earned them. The major one being that you should never, ever dedicate yourself and life to any company or organization. Corporate America is a loveless monster and cares nothing for you beyond what you produce. They work only for themselves and will cut you for their own reasons no matter how misguided you believe they are. They're in it for maximum profit and survival and you're either in the direct line of being fired or you are collateral damage - it does not matter - when they decide to make changes.
Work for yourself and your family. This is the environment we're all in now and if you do not take care of yourself and your interests while leaving your fate to those that do, you're going to have to deal with these situations over-and-over unnecessarily. While there's no guarantees that you'll always have a job and survive economic hardships unscathed, you will improve your chances and give yourself more options on what to do next.
Again, good luck. This BS will end so spend your time positioning yourself for your next position.
