@aa you think every net tech on VZ is union? it's funny how confidently people speak when they are so ignorant of the world about them.
@af we have someone on our team that has been with Verizon 40 years. Instrumental in so many things we do and an encyclopedia of knowledge. Who are you to tell someone when they should retire (even though you completely misread in the first place)?
@af They said 39 years old with 6 years of service. Dude. Reading is fundamental.
39 years??? Time to retire dude.
BS. They’re offering EISP to techs. You don’t have to take it. And there’s no layoffs of union techs planned. RIF only affects mgmnt. Try again.
@a3 NJ requires 1 week per year of service
What does Network technician translate to these days?
You had the chance last year to take 3 weeks they said it wouldn’t be offered if you are impacted later… not trying to be rude but you knew the future if you were impacted.
@a5 agree.. the OP should actually slap himself in the face, and then ask mommy to put his big boy pants on.
Btw I am 52. 25 years service.. more or less get the same.. feel for you Op. but grow some..
Complaining about this the way you are after only 6 years is crazy.
Not pleasant to go thru for sure. On the brightside, you're still very young career wise at 39 years old.
I left AT&T at 41 years old after ~20 years. Since then I've had an excellent 2nd half of my career in Consulting, back into Telcom and now in Financial Services.
So entitled.
You get 60 days notice. Then 3 months severance at full pay+benefits, THEN you get to go on unemployment.
2 weeks is standard in large companies. Severance is ONLY required in one out of the 50 States, Maine. The vast majority of people have NO severance pay at all. Bump-kiss.
Be happy for what you have. It's far more than most.
Its very fair
