Spouse's Team Cut from 10 down to 2

Welp, there you go. He survived, but there's only 2 left out of 10. How can they possibly do that amount of work? So we know that they're just being kept around for knowledge transfer and then he will be gone in Feb/Mar when the next round hits.

We're both pretty upset as the people on the team were really good people and hard workers. No "slackers".

Best of luck to all of you. It's a really sad day for so many people... even for those that "survived".

Years ago I was on a team of 25…..after round and rounds of cuts I was the last man standing and I am convinced I stayed because o was the only one left with a mainframe account and knowledge. A lot of the technologies we supported fell in my lap were new to me, but I learned. Tell your spouse to do what they can and get done what is urgent at that point and forget the rest. Update their resume and start looking.

Many teams are getting impacted like this and there won’t be enough people to redistribute the work. Everything has to change. If you strip down wireline to so few people it will be impossible to continue the status quo. That means radically scale back products and stop adding new products, decom the legacy systems, stop doing custom deals and negotiating everything just to close a sale. Stop doing anything other than trying to keep our existing customers from jumping ship. All teams will need to step up and be fully accountable for the work they own. Don’t expect to be bailed out or have someone do work for you because no one will have time to do it. Wishing the best to everyone that’s being impacted. Good luck to those remaining.

Why even survive? It’s just a matter of time.

Years ago, I went from 8 to 1 (me) and it su*cked. Give it a few weeks and see if they can get an alternate schedule for some breathing time.
Example: work later Mon and Tues 2 hours, get every other Friday off. Do have to apply for it to go in effect but that saved me mentally for the 2 years I had to do it alone

I know of a team with a competitor company that went from 100 to literally 1 person.
