It's all about bumping the stock so the execs get their "rewards"
Given hatchet man has been on the board for 7yrs he deserves as much "credit" for the stupid cr-p that's gone on than anybody.
Now he comes to save the day? It's all about the Benjamins, hatchet and his buddies will make serious bank while many people have their lives close to being ruined.

You mean what would your return be over 10yrs if somebody invested $10k in this allegedly sh$$tty and broken company today, the stock stayed flat, dividend rate stayed the same, 15% dividend tax rate, and you reinvested your dividends?
You'd get a 76% total return and an appx 12% yield on cost.
Not a bad investment, of course nothing like the AI bubble however a solid investment.
So investors can make money, it's just not the crazy returns that the "street" demands which wind up costing all of us in the long run.
What about the investors??
You put your personal savings into a 401k (I'd presume if you're smart) and need the stock or index fund, and/or individua stocks to grow on value.

@OP: correct and agreed!! Dan was a member of the Verizon Board of Directors and should have ended the bleeding, much earlier, before this juncture in time. While an incompetent CEO lead the then #1 wireless carrier and now polling a distant third.
