Vz Retirement vs RIF

For staff 60 and older, will Vz give the option to be laid off or take early (forced) retirement? I keep hearing about retirement program where if you are at least 60 and haven’t least 15 yrs service you might be eligible for retirement benefits…in addition to RIF package?

If you’re over 50, you only need 10 years of service to retire, they silently changed it a couple years, at least for non-union.

The first person that stated the 25% off is pretty much the only benefit. You can take advantage of the VZ charity match when you are retired. I have taken advantage of that for years!

There is a rule of 75. Look in Benefits Connection to see the policy but it basically is your age plus years in service have to equal 75. So if you’re 35 with 15 years you have 50 years. If you’re 50 with 25 years you have 75 and would be eligible to retire.

I am 60 +.. Rif’d Q1

RIF package is one if the same. If you have a pension you also get access to tgat as a rollover. Otherwise one of the same.

Good luck

Once RIF notifications and you get your last day then you do the retirement and not before.
