What is the rule as far as severance if you are laid off? Who gets it and how is it calculated?

yeah but the extra 600 ends of july keep that in mind.
Plus of you recieve Severence it will mess up you unemployment payments and trust me you make more in unemployment than what you will get in severence pay
Severance is not guaranteed or any type of lawful requirement. Companies are not obligated to offer it. Hopefully people will get something if they are laid off but it probably won't be as much, if they get severance at all.

My last day with Macy's was 3/31 and I signed my severance paperwork on 4/2. Macy's said severance would be processed within 4-6 weeks of signature. Today is exactly 6 weeks. Just curious if anyone else is in the same boat or if others with similar timelines have received their severance. I've reached out to HR, but no response yet...

My wife's store is one of those on the list of closings. Happy New Year to us, I guess. Does anybody know what kind of severance Macy's provides?

I honestly don't think we will get severance pay Macy's has no money they can barely afford to pay the people they called back. Plus the people that were laid off earlier this year still haven't gotten their severance. So just collect unemployment and be happy that you have that.
Yes, part timers do get it. Two years ago in our store 703 several part time associates got there severance package but they had problems claiming unemployment benefits. They had to wait for months to claim it. 🗒️
They have in the past, but now it is a totally different world.....
I don’t know anything to be honest, but I always thought they did it to “save face” or to let people go more easily. I never thought it was guaranteed for anyone. If they don’t have the money right now who knows
