That's how it went down for me. Not all all hands, just a nice personal 30 minute call with my SC / SE manager. Am I alone in this? I think not. Anyone care to share their experience?

In EMEA it depends on the country. In many cases it's much better than 6 months of salary. It all depends on the duration of your employment with the company, your age etc. The best I've heard is Germany where they get long notice periods and significant severance payments.
Latest rif package in the US from March notices was 2 weeks+1 week salary for every completed year of service with a maximum of either 18 or 24 weeks (not sure why some were offered more)
In the U.S don't most people get offered 6 months salary when they are asked to leave? This seems to be the norm in UK/Ireland and EMEA.
An job is only a matter of a few minutes GTFO phone farewell conversation.

I'm in another part of the world and we got it dropped in but was part of the restructure to send our business to Oracle Global Services (which happens from 1 June). I had a massive WTF when we got an announcement of a mandatory 1 hour meeting but on quizzing my M5 was quickly calmed.

Why are you reliving your layoff? Is there a 'right' way to lay people off that would be universally accepted?
I suppose that is like asking if there is a right way to execute someone. I think a severance package is better than just turning off direct deposit. How about the way the mafia does it with a big happy dinner, then all your buddies take you for a ride in a limo.
So you asked... here is my answer. Oracle should do a dinner and then a limo ride instead of shooting you they should hand you a severance package.

In regard to your statement above. Hahaha. Oh, it can get worse. Much worse.
Didn't see it coming may last few months at Oracle were taking trips to clients near resort areas, hanging out. Chasing tail, watching movies and playing video games. Motivation factor at Oracle zero... thank goodness for direct deposit.
