Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

FedEx Layoff Alert System - foiled.

Oracle has indeed noticed the use of FedEx delivery notices to tell when a layoff was going down the day before it actually happened. As a refresher for those new to the game... when Oracle creates a label for a FedEx shipment and you are the recipient, and you are signed up to be notified about FedEx deliveries, you would be alerted about the impending shipment from Oracle. This was being used to tell if a layoff was going to happen the next day because Oracle would ship the FedEx packages the day before the layoff for next day delivery. Well, they modified their layoff package delivery date so that the FedEx label is now created on the day of the layoff and the package is actually received by the affected employees the day after they are RIFed. Now we are left with two detection mechanisms... 1 - Zeroed vacation balance (if you had any left to begin with), meaning they cut the final check... this may now have been delayed a day too, and 2 - The out-of-the-blue mandatory 1:1 onsite meeting invite from your manager for the next morning.

I have unlimited vacation so I guess my vacation balance won't be zero'd out. I'm remote so I won't be getting a 1:1 onsite meeting request. I guess I'll just be surprised. Or not when I'm out working from Starbux and miss the delivery and no one is home to sign for it.

Oracle operates like an intelligent criminal does. A criminal like that could choose to use their mind to do real work and could succeed in that way. But, the criminal looks instead, for ways to cheat the system, to screw people over for fun, to do anything BUT the right thing.

This is Oracle. They could have applied the company towards providing real services to the customer, but instead they look for ways to abuse and cheat their customers. The management could look for ways to help and incite good employees to work for Oracle, but instead the managers work at playing dirty tricks, sabotage and attacks on employees. They work to undermine their employees at every turn.

In other words, Oracle is simply evil. They could do the right thing, and so could their management, but they choose to do the wrong thing. Why? Because they LIKE doing things the wrong way. This, to me, is pure evil.

This is a company doomed to go down. A company can't function with so many dysfunctional people.

If this kid of intelligent strategy was applied to product development and management of customers the results would have been great.

1 on 1 is hilarious terminology, I prefer the term private dance in the bang bang room.

On a big RIF last year (2017), the "out-of-the-blue mandatory 1:1 onsite meeting invite from your manager for the next morning" wasn't issued until RIF morning for many. Part of the issue is that the managers themselves may be included in the RIF.

Sounds like an HR violation which probably doesn’t matter if you’re not an employee anymore when the harassment happens.

Loopholes.

1 on 1 is like a 69 but with a dude in a smelly office, not sure what your trying to say about your intimate relationship with your manager.

I heard they will delay layoffs by a day or 2 so that the suspected people who are laid off have no idea it’s coming.
