How to sign up for FedEx delivery notification

Now that October is just around the corner, it's probably time to for another recommendation to sign up for FedEx delivery notifications (if you're in the US and think you may get the axe soon).

If you don't already have a FedEx account, go to their website and set one up a personal account. Use the same name and home address that Oracle HR has for you.

After you log in to FedEx, choose "Access FedEx Delivery Manger®" -- one of the options under Quick Access (right under login window on left side of main US site page). After you've chosen FedEx Delivery Manager, sign up for that. You can choose whether you want FedEx to send you email, text, or both about upcoming deliveries.

Getting a FedEx delivery notification the day before 9/1/17 was how many people found out their number was up. It s---ed, but hearing about it from FedEx was more than many (most?) ex-Oracle folks got from their managers.

The choice of Fedex is probably because the folks using it are dinosaurs who don't realize the company has an Echosign service which is cheaper and legal too. Which is good because folks get a day advance notice of their demise.

I heard that Oracle is going to resort to something radically different. They are strongly considering doing everything by email and you just print out the forms and mail all the stuff back. Once you read the email, then your access to email is disabled.

The reason they do it via Fedex is probably for legal reasons, i.e., proof from 3rd party that O has served you your walking papers, etc.

Doubt they'll do it through email.

It ws both generic and quite specific at the same time. I'll be using it to apply. I don't have an ax to grind. I was well treated for 17 years. The actual layoff stunk.

good luck, keep us posted on what happens.

It was a letter encouraging me to apply to Oracle openings. :/

they care enough to send it via fedex!

was it a generic letter or did they actually make some good links for you to check out?

I doubt they are trying to rehire me. I suspect it's COBRA stuff.

"I have a package coming from Oracle tomorrow. Funny part is, I was RIFd on Sept 1."

May be O want rehire you. Seriously, please post the reason why O send you the 2nd FedEx. Many of us ( RIFd on Sept 1) want to know.

RIF by mail? Now that's ridiculous.

Oracle is cold and heartless but it's also efficient and cautious enough to avoid legal complications. Sign-up for your Fedex notification.

If you can't manage to sign up for Fedex delivery without forum help - perhaps you might just not have quite the IQ enough to work in high tech.

imagine if you forget to pick it up from the printer or someone picked up your stuff from that public printer. Hope they don't have any of your sensitive PII's on those forms.

Well they’ll save on postage cost... Now if you can find a place to print off the forms good luck!

@PqWx8ds-1lwb Would love to see your last email with names /details redacted.

One guy got canned around 8 years ago and his email read

"So long and thanks for the fish"

What's the point? I'm ready. Boxes - check. Cleaned out office (only essentials for day to day are still in place) - check. Goodbye email written - check. I can be outta here in 10 minutes, no sweat.

Any shipment notifications you receive from FedEx will give the name of the shipper. So if you're scheduled to get a love letter from Oracle, it will say Oracle. If you're gonna get a shipment of boxers, it will say Hanes or Joe Boxer or whatever!

I think UPS has the same notification service. It's called MyChoice.

I heard they might be switching to UPS to avoid detection.
