Severance

I am curious. On the day of your 60 day working notice, Do you get your final check and PTO earned. Then severance starts 2 weeks later?

You’ll receive your final check early—on the last day of your displacement notice period. So, if Friday 9/18/26 was the last day of your displacement notice period, the check or direct deposit you received that day was your final paycheck paid early (on 9/18/26 rather than 9/25/26). Severance payments align with the regular WF pay schedule, so you won’t receive your first severance payment until 10/9/26.

@r5
Any accrued, unused PTO is included in your final check, which is paid on the very last day of your severance notice period.

@qn the PTO days get paid in 60 days waiting period or after?

@dv My next check after final regular pay and unused PTO were paid out skipped one payday. Severance pay would have been on that 2nd payday after regular pay + PTO, but my lump sum hit my bank account.

Do displaced employee get any bonus at all? If yes, does it matter if the employee select lump sum vs regular pay during severance?

@dv
My payslip shows it was for unused PTO but also wages (leave) through yesterday. Is that what yours shows as well, or just unused PTO?

@ds Yes. The paycheck is for unused PTO. Next regular check should start next week during the pay cycle. At least, that's what our incompetent HR department told me!

Did you guys get your final paycheck on the very last day of your severance notice period even though it wasn’t a regular Wells Fargo payday? Does that mean severance payments start the next regular payday (i.e. in a week), or do they start in three weeks?

Everything posted here is accurate. I was displaced in April of last year with one year of severance. Found a new gig 2 months into severance, so double-dipped for rest of the time. Managed to pay off a bunch of stuff and put fair amount in investment account, so thanks WF! Took a pay cut but work for a great company. You only realize how awful WF is after you leave! Good luck.

@b9 Your signature and submission of the applicable pages is required within 45 days of receipt. Depending on the timing of key dates you might be able to receive a lump sum payout in early 2027.

If you submit this completed form and your lump sum request is approved:
• You will be paid your remaining severance pay in a lump sum severance payment within 60 days of Wells Fargo’s receipt of your form. Your pay will be taxed at the applicable supplemental rate. Additionally, federal, state, and local tax withholdings will also be applied, as required.
• Your benefits end date is the end of the month in which your Severance Eligibility Period ends, which could be prior to the date of your lump sum payout, and prior to the end date of your original Severance Eligibility Period.

If your request is submitted within the last 30 days of your severance eligibility period, we cannot guarantee you will receive a lump sum payment prior to your severance eligibility period ending. Instead, you may receive your remaining severance payments on the regularly scheduled pay dates.

I think you only get 45 days from displacement start date to sign papers to qualify for severance. Once the 60 days waiting period is competed, you can submit the lump sum letter request which should take one to two pay periods.

My additional question:
Can one request the lump sum in the month of January so the big check lands in 2027 year?

Do displaced employee get any bonus at all?

@b1 Empower reached out about a week +/- after the end of my 60-day non-working period.

@a3
Do you recall how long it took before Empower Retirement was informed that you were no longer a Wells Fargo employee?

Forgot to add...

After the final regular pay + PTO, you will not get another check until the 2nd regular payday after your final check + PTO has been paid. This check and those going forward are part of the Severance Period and will be deducted from the lump sum balance as applicable if applied for.

I was displaced on 4/28/26. I received my final regular check and unused PTO as an off-cycle payment (Friday after payday) on the last day of my 60-day non-working period, 6/26/26. I submitted a request for a lump sum payout of my severance the next day and received it 7/17/26. Your mileage may vary as far as processing time for a lump sum request.

No. You’re still an employee during those 60 days you’re just not required to work. Ideally thats the time you’re supposed to use apply for internal positions etc. You’ll get final check and PTO at the end of the 60 days and that’s when the severance will start
