Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

We're struggling to keep up

A lot of experienced people have either left or been pushed out, and everyone remaining is being asked to pick up more work. The pay doesn't feel like it reflects how much is being demanded from us. Customers are noticing the problems, which only adds more pressure internally. It's a mess all around.

@1fr Yes MJ is out...thanks for recognizing my honesty.

I heard they did the classic move and made Barbwire get on the call with HR. This means only one thing, Barbwire will ne terminated very soon. ER was terminated last year on Oct. 3rd., I could easily see MH choosing this date to can Barbwire . Barbwire has a few more people she has aligned with over the years and who she has hired from Pearson Hopefully MH makes her terminate these Losers before they show her the exit. MH despises Barbwire, he despises her appearance, her voice, her mannerisms. her lack of knowledge.

Have yo noticed how nice and helpful Barbwire is to anyone that she comes in contact with her??? Little too late Barbwire, your call is coming very soon.

The National Director LE is Toxic, so lets add her to the list:

I’m having a beer in my early retirement and thinking how much better my fall is thanks to the layoffs.

@ha NK, Barbwire, sidekick MJ , all are on the short list. I doubt they make it past October 15th.

Why aren’t NK or BE ever held accountable for all of the loss sales and overall chaos?

@OP Cengage job descriptions are a mile long for 50-80k salaries. It’s absolutely NOT remotely worth what you’re being paid and your life is he-l July-Oct. I started in this industry 15 years ago for 65k and half the job responsibilities. This is the PE way- do everything for half the cost. Glad I’m out.

I’ve been applying to external roles and other companies are offering 50% higher pay than Cengage for the exact same job duties.

If the job market weren’t so overly saturated I would’ve been gone months ago. Cengage gets the bare minimum until I get a better offer. F**k the greedy executives.

The ONLY people responsible for the losses, disorganization, and overwork without pay raises are the executive team and high up managers. Not a particular department or section. In another thread people were talking about bonuses but those only go to higher ups and sales if they meet growingly insane levels. Remember whet “merit” raises earlier this year, which were under 3% for some and didn’t even meet cost of living? And how MH was out to dry babbling while the new HR from Apollo watched on and did nothing? Good times.

Yes, the Instructors are definitely noticing the problem. On the content side, we continue to receive threats from instructors who complain about the content quality. It's not that difficult for them to switch over to Pearson or McGraw-Hill. I don't know what incentive they have to even stay with Cengage at this point? The product isn't even cheaper.

The employees are also burnt out from continuing to pick up the workload of those who were either laid off or left.

As long as executive compensation remains on the perpetual upswing, these are but minor concerns for the peons to resolve.
