Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Pretty smart making everyone RTO during the Super Flu.

Genius timing. Ought to work out really well.

@y2 I don't think it will and this "message" is only used to keep people from using the resources available to them in fear of retaliation.

The policies accessible are quite informative and managers know subordinate a don't really comb through these policies stringently and are hoping people just believe whatever lies comes out of their mouthes. They are getting a little bit too comfortable with it too.

@vh They are when it was communicated in the couple of town hall meetings I've attended.

If they have a problem with it, they can slap it on the Truist Teammate Handbook and see how that goes lol

@vb as AmEx used to say: “membership has its privileges.” Not much you can do other than trust that manager’s manager. I can assure you that going to HR or “up the chain” will only backfire.

@vb Those are not questions for a subordinate to raise.

@dm I agree with doing my job.

But what if we have incompetent managers who get in the way of the job and are incredibly distracting and make themselves exceptions to the rule?

What is your advice since I know it is policy that these rules of RTO applies to managers as well and there zero mention of exemptions tied to titles.

Amazing how vaccines keep saving lives, and yet some folks still treat them like a government conspiracy. It’s almost as if willful ignorance has become a lifestyle choice. But hey, nature has its own way of managing that sort of thing.

@nk It was easier to "not come to work when sick" when we were remote. With the RTO, people will exhaust their sick days quicker, forcing them to come in and make everyone sick. Unless management provides WFH exceptions, those 5 days straight everyday will be disastrous and possibly deadly. People already don't believe in washing their hands or flushing the toilets. Best thing to do is buy K95 masks and sanitizer and hope for the best.

It's unfortunate a vocal minority continues to poorly represent Truist. Dress code enforcement and badge scans to access restrooms will be next to weed out the slackers.

RTO is stupid, but the flu fear mongering is lame. It’s the same as it is every year. Wash your hands, don’t come to work if you are sick, use common sense

See everyone Monday. Purple attire encouraged, smiles expected. Since no one is forcing you to work here, su-k it up, buttercup, and do your job.

RTO is almost certainly because of spring timelines:

$936 billion in industry CRE debt maturing (extend-and-pretend exhausted) and Corporate debt refinancing at 300-400 bps higher than original issuance

RTO is a demand-side hope for a problem that's already baked into the capital structure. The loans mature whether the seats fill or not.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone back in the office bright and early Monday morning. The return-to-office plan has been communicated well in advance, and everyone has had sufficient time to prepare.

At this point, the expectation is straightforward: show up, be professional, and do your job. If the arrangement does not work for you, you are free to explore other opportunities. What is not productive is continued complaining about a policy that is not changing.

@cn are you getting paid for all the bootlicking or is the taste of polish enough to sustain you?

also, the flu shot didn't work this year.

Flu shots are provided at no cost to Teammates through all of the medical plans offered. You should be well rested from working at home and you've had ample notice of the 1/5/2026 RTO date—please leave your personal issues at the door.

I’m just sitting on the pot
Pushing away and grunting like mad
Company time
This is the effort they get from me
