Think of it as bad companies releasing employees to go work at good companies, because that is exactly what layoffs are. Good companies don't over-hire, and they keep growing their business so cutting people never makes much sense.

The managers always say “A clean cross box is a happy cross box.”

Work a lot of OT and you’ll make it through the November layoffs. Out side techs need to stay out late every night cleaning jumpers out of abandoned cross boxes. If you look busy you will still have a job..

Layoffs are planned due to continued monitoring and deep dives of presence metrics. With a majority of employees working an average of just 40 hours/week at best, it’s clear fewer employees are required. Remaining employees will be expected to start working a few hours of OT each week to cover gaps from laid off workers.

I don't work in telecom, but personally, I don't want the US broadband bandwidth allocated to companies that believe that capital markets are the only stakeholders in the products they are delivering. I believe that non-corrupt representation has the power to manage the situation if they only use it. The same is true for airlines and airport gates. Many corporations need the cooperation of government officials but they are not standing up for the American work force and it shows painfully.

To be honest the telecom and tech companies have known this from they start. They have no quams with the problams they are causing the American people this has already been factored in. and Yes the talk is that the layoffs at the end of November are already decided and managers are already sitting on the news. If you even THINK you are at risk you need to apply for as many internal slots as you can because the two weeks they give you will not be enough to get an offer in flight. Be warned

This money that exits the US breaks the supply and demand internally inside the US . It certainly don't help with inflation, and is a direct result of the H1B abuse that these companies engage in with their third party contracting companies that hide the telecoms numbers indirectly .
