Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Lazy Employees!

What do relationships managers really do?? Because at this point I belive their job is to just redirect their responsibilities or even misdirect. Do your job and stop making others do the work of three depertments!!! Its infuriating!!

Quick summary - Sales/AM's sell the dream, RM's blow the smoke, and support cleans up the mess. What ever happened to truth, honor and integrity? Sales people, sell!.. but keep it real. Nobody wants to be over-promised and under-delivered. RM's, hold the line. Help us, help you. Support, work hard, set expectations, deliver on the promise. We need to quit pointing fingers and start holding hands.

@gg AMs don’t do jack. Unlimited PTO and traveling to clients keeps them from actually servicing their FIs.
Make the day profitable.

I work closely with these roles and I wouldn’t touch either an RM or AM client facing role. RM is probably one of the worst jobs in the company for morale. They are required to be onsite 80% of the time away from family. Spend most days getting their a$$ handed to them by clients and then also by Fiserv management and internal teams when trying to get help. No charity golf tournament or fancy dinner is worth that.

There's some good rm's "some" but dont count on them to really help with the situation. They are their to help escalate if they even can.

But yes I generally agree
Sales, Rm's, SE's generally just delegate and dont really leave a footprint.

They generally dont know what they are doing and will come to you for help or delegate you to do the work yourself.

It is what it is, whatever to keep the paychecks coming in.

Every employee at this company is a waste. I am single handedly carrying this company on my back.

@eb every RM should be worshipping at the feet of product teams for creating and maintaining the products they renew.

Now let’s talk about how much more of a waste the Account Managers are….

Can confirm, RM’s don’t do anything besides pass the work off.

Don’t get it twisted, the RM is not here to be liked by internal employees. An RM is an extension of the client, they are the client’s advocate. Anything that an RM brings to you is an ask of the client. An RM is not a technical resource or project manager.

Each time you get the privilege to interact with a client today, you can thank the RM. We are lucky to have clients after the last four years. You have a job to complain about because they’ve done the hard work to keep these clients here. Go respond to an email - the RM is probably waiting to hear back from you.

@cg you can't totally blame RMs for losing merchants. You can blame Credit Risk, particularly the Periodic Review team (aka HRHV). Merchants a) hate being pestered for financials, b) hate having semi annual or quarterly reviews and c) despise having funds on hold for a litany of reasons.

HRHV is part of why RMs lose mechants. You didn't hear it from me, lol.

@bp If a customer leaves due to bad quality, it should be the total responsibility of the Relationship Manager. RM should own the loss of a customer.. internally RM presses, complains about product, tech folks.. how about your responsibility ??

@bp Nailed it. Leadership understaffed everything, so RMs, dev, and systems teams are all stuck firefighting. The only ones not in an impossible spot are the management.
I remember when RMs used to recognize efforts even something as small as being taken to lunch. Instead I see RMs/ Support teams constantly jumping from fire to fire across so many clients that they can't even keep track of which client has which issue.

Their job is to lie to the customers. They lie so the customers don't leave. And sometimes Fiserv drives the customer to leave anyway.

They may not know that they are lying (in the beginning). They will say things like, "we can fix that" or "I'm sorry we are having an outage" but those statements are lies.

They don't get support from the people who can fix the problems because those teams are under skeleton crew strength as it is.

Management didn't properly staff the company, so RMs are in an impossible situation and development and system teams are also in an impossible situation. Only one not in an impossible situation is the management team who made the decisions that things should be this way.

They do absolutely nothing honestly. They know nothing and expect you to do all the work. Basically a middleman in between communication if you asked me

The Relationship Managers waste the company money traveling, wining and dining clients and are not problem solvers! They redirect everything to tech and blame them while doing nothing to improve or grow the relationships with the clients. Many of the RMs have unprofessional behavior and don’t do any work! They play golf or talk about themselves and their adventures rather than focus on solving the client’s problems! They are a waste of time and money!

@a4

Agreed entirely.

I'm also a relationship manager and about to be giving my notice tomorrow after securing other employment elsewhere for more money and better conditions. This place is circling the drain.

There is no point in having my role to manage let alone grow relationships when it's not backed up internally by investment in products that work etc.

In other companies the role is focused on commercial growth with existing portfolios but that's impossible here when fiserv doesn't even do the basics right, you are just constantly fighting fires.

And at some point you realise like the clients that you have also been duped and that everything you had been told was coming is not as everything here is about short term bandaid solutions only. And once you realise that it's time to find something else and leave asap.

As someone who recently left this position. Why don’t you try the job for a few months? Try wrangling in multiple groups who refuse to communicate internally. An RM has all accountability and responsibility yet has to rely on silo’d groups who could care less about our clients. They can’t move the needle or sell these days bc there is no internal support so they catch it from all sides. They have huge quotas and are basically have become the dumping ground of the company.. It’s really sad…
