Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

After yesterday’s DE propaganda letter to employees…

… I’m clearing out my personal belongings and beginning to work with a couple of headhunters. I do not accept being lectured to in what is a violation of standing company policy to not politicize our workplace. This company, now aka Fox News Jr., no longer deserves me and my talent. I will no longer contribute to what it has become over the last several months. Everyone has their last straw and this was it for me. Only I have power over my work life. I do wish circumstances were such that we all, in unity, could walk out in a show of solidarity but I know that it’s not realistic, I understand we all have obligations. But for myself, I can at least start planning my exit. Wondering if this has affected anyone else in a similar way.

Sorry but outside of media, in the past I doubt any employee was in a position to complain about the politics of their owner/boss. You just want a job, provide for family and develop skills. All this talk about protesting management because you don’t agree with their views is a joke. It’s a public company but basically privately owned. Companies are no longer tolerating protest and just want to keep those who keep their eye on profit. That’s legal and the fiction that workers ideas on non-work issues are appreciated are coming to a close. If you are a creator, then yes you want an employer aligned w your views, but the business is getting smaller and beggars can’t be choosers

@gd looks like for some people anything short of UBI, reparations and open borders is hard right.

@aj this is a stupid post and shows you do not read. The free press is hard right.

I think this is a great move - CBS News needed new management to come in and reset the tone back to actual news without any undertones of political bias.

De says he wants to be tech. All the tech bros have no political view. They just pay both sides to cover their companies. They don’t have a strong political mantra and just follow trends like dei. Let’s not pretend that the company wasn’t leftist with policies like dei. Especially coming after cbs Viacom merger when the Viacom side got in charge of everything. I always thought cbs was somewhat evenhanded but Viacom not at all

@aw Fox is light years ahead of any other network as far as sowing hate and division goes. Stop it with the false equivalence cr-p. And also Fox is an entertainment channel, but far too many, mainly MAGA take it as gospel, as the source of truth, when it's the exact opposite.

Imagine thinking every corporation isn’t awful and would step on your family if it meant saving $6.

As someone in the 70% middle I welcome this change. Fox News and MSNBC are toxic and dividing this country. If you aren't onboard then sorry but at least you have those options. What we had wasn't working - hopefully this will and the other outlets will follow us towards the middle. We've catered to the extremes far too long.

The people that are outraged by this are the same people that are outraged by having to return to office.

America needs a non-partisan news source. This is a step in the right direction and could set CBS News apart from the others. We're not aiming to become Fox News.

The question for me is will Americans tune in or are we too far divided already.

I think you missed the point-the workplace and editorial leanings are already WAY too politicized. The note says that news programming should appeal to the 70% in the middle (not just the far left). You are part of the problem and won’t be missed.
