Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Another layoff coming?

Not trying to stir it up but someone outside of Chevron was told by a Chevron insider that there’s another layoff coming soon. Anyone else heard the same?

@pj yep, I’m one of them!

Depends very much on BU and function. Some regions and teams were cut much more deeply than others.

@g8
I disagree there were few employees let go involuntarily. I know many people that wanted to stay but their jobs were eliminated.

@ja I worked at Chevron for 36 years. 1981 till 2017. I only suggested that and specifically said my opinion only. Apple could buy Chevron with pocket change. Not that they will but Chevron appears to be in a weakened state. Having said that getting rid of most of the remaining US based employees and having sent multitude of jobs to Manila and Buenos Aires while I still worked there just makes me wonder what MW is up to. That’s all. Simple as that. I’m still a stock holder and still get benefits at 69 years old from the Company I worked so long for. Ever heard of Via Benefits?
Anyway, good luck to you.

@j9 gobbled up by Shell? lol. Do you even work in this industry?

Sounds like Chevron could be gobbled up by another Major Integrated Company. Exxon? I doubt it. But Shell could be a possibility. Based in Europe would not interfere with a buyout in all Stock Transaction. Just my opinion only. The Company appears to be in shambles. I wish nothing but the best to remaining employees. It’s been a long year for y’all.

No layoffs needed. There were very few employees let go involuntarily. Just offer an EOI in 2 years and watch folks flee this sinking ship.

@ab the layoff that is coming is in ENGINE

The tax policies plus the incompetency makes ENGINE a terrible idea. I heard from someone high up that it is possible that we could sell ENGINE to a partner who could run it better.

Been reported Chevron is aggressively shopping CO midstream. Probably shopping upstream too, but way way way too much environmental liability for anyone to seriously consider. And the other DJ players actively selling. RBU is the next SJV - operate just enough to avoid dealing with full AR liability

I keep hearing the official statement of “in 1-2 years”, but there’s whispers that it’ll be nonstop until ENGINE is up, along with the rest of the “lower-cost geographies”. I say it everyday: I wish i had just AEOI’d.

@cx+: i heard this as well, my manager couldn’t say but kinda implied it’s gonna be rolling layoffs in small batches, basically till ENGINE is up and running. It’s messed up, man…

There are also whispers of selling Colorado assets. This seems doubtful but the person who is saying it says it’s true.

Absolutely and it will be done in smaller waves as to not trigger WARN. It’s at will employment and they don’t owe us anything. If you’re smart, you’ve been job hunting for months already. If you’re in California, doubly so. Fu---d up times, yall. This was told to me by a very high up. So so so so regretful that I didn’t just AEOI.

Yes because AS over at ENGINE is stretching the truth about how well it’s going. He’s telling all the VPs to move more jobs there even though the talent is seriously lacking.
