I honestly believe that Shart would pay all the $ (not like it's coming out of his check) in order to get rid of us. He has a deep seated emotional hatred for WF employees, especially anyone that's been here longer than him. He wants it to be done as cheaply as possible, but at the end of the day he'll pay to exterminate us all.

AI Testing of applicants skills should be an essential part of the H1B visa process. That would get rid of most of the scam. AI would objectively measure the merits of the application.

It's 2025; they don't need to come here to do that work. No visa needed.

Lots of foreign talent already in the US with green-cards and citizenship ready to work. But It is not about the talent, as it is about saving money. The 100k fee will save our tech jobs for a few years for us foreign tech labor already in the country.

If Trump really wanted to protect American workers the solution is right in front of him. Tax employers who use off-shore talent to perform on-shore jobs. Same concept as a manufacturing import tariff.

If Wells wants to shut down 10 jobs at $100K each to shift those jobs to India at $40K, simply have the company incur a tax for the difference. Company is still spending $1M in both scenarios. The difference is off-shoring will result in a tax bill of $600K that can be deployed domestically to boost the economy.

This would immediately end the nonsense of corporate double speak that we are short on onshore talent or that we are following a model to provide global support by "following the sun". Off-shoring would largely end overnight with such a policy.

While we're at it, we should be looking at how companies are taxed when they are making record profits in the billions while simultaneously laying off people. Again, I support a company's right to adjust staffing levels that they feel is appropriate. However, if they are displacing while profiting upping their tax responsibility is a reasonable trade off. Use that money again to support those that are negatively impacted by corporate decisions.

Not for existing H-1B holders and not annual

Employers are smart. They will just offshore the job. The net result an economy that is based on consumption loses people who would consume. And yes not all of the immigrants create businesses and yet they are at the forefront of startups and billion dollar enterprises.

We are just in an Era of protectionist regimes and even though in principal it looks good, it may have an equal and opposite effect.

So tomorrow we will compete with the same guy who started a business in the country of their origib and we will loose the technical edge.

What's better is perhaps the US government requires all people who go through immigration pay an additional 5% payroll tax till they become residents. We still collect dollars and use it to train us citizens and not lose the talent that will drive the next wave of technologies of America.

Expand the pie, think big, this is why our country is beautiful!

Nice direction. But might end up to be more bark than substance. Also it might just be a YAT (yet another tariff) to make Modi stop buying gas from Russia.

I saw somewhere that if you read the fine print, the administration can waive the fee at its discretion. So it’s probably just another way to play favorites/strong arm corporations into doing what it wants.

Well there goes America’s place I. Technology. You think TK can deliver technology before someone from Asia or Europe? If she is the example , The Emirates are going to eat the world’s lunch in this space. Look at what they are building.

It's a step in the right direction, but it needs to come with additional levies on offshored labor, especially if they are not operating in that country in any meaningful capacity.

@a6 not if levy tariffs on the wages paid to the offshore foreign workers. It’s an import of labor. The tariffs should be used to pay into the social security that would have been paid if wages are earned by the American workers. I’m approaching retirement, so it will not impact me much. I do worry a lot for the younger and future generations of Americans!!

Orange man is wrong again. More jobs will be outsourced. H1B pays tax and spends here. He should go after outsourcing. He won't.

I would feel bad for work sponsored visa holder if it wasn't for the fact most of these people are being hired as Database Admins, System Support Roles, Web Dev-- which are hardly roles or specialties that you can't find knowledgeable talent in this country.

There are MANY desperate new grads who are eager to learn, but managers at WF are too stuck up to train their resources.

Further more, there are many WF colleagues that want to earn more money. There should be a way for Bank Tellers, Floor Admins, CSRs to break into tech. All they need to do is pick up a book, learn some new skills, and find a manager that will support them.

Trump also needs to tariff the labor hours American companies contract to overseas workers, say $100/hr. This has been a long time coming. Everyone should write the whitehouse and thank them. Also suggest the tariff of Indian Labor hours.

I love it. No college degree Bridget is sc--wed. If you’re American you soon going to have lots more options. Time for that raise that outpaces inflation, otherwise its time to look for more money working with more intelligent people. No more abusive treatment and threats.

Employers will decrease 20k from a visa holders salary for five years and they will still come. Will bring spouses, parents and siblings for 20k/yr. Its still a deal. If the r truly best and brightest charge a Mil for it. This is still a scam
