Layoff all the Concho Honchos…they make 17% more than comparable COP legacy staff.

Consider that without layoffs there may not be a "long term." As others have pointed out, layoffs are often part of a reset.

Right size = Sale of company. Common business practice.

Commonsense should tell us all with new COO and OxyChem sale they will have a reorg companywide. Not sure about layoffs, but a reorg will be coming if not in 2025 then early 2026. It is just the nature of business, and they could easily layoff or cut the low-performers. If you are one, now is the time to show your worth, or don't be surprised when you are shown the door. Whether Oxy or another company having or getting a job in the oil industry is not as easy as it was just a few short years ago.

@mh perfectly said. Size or BOED is not a measure of success and longevity…
Plus we are less than 3 years away from Pure Plays..Permian Resources, Diamondback and others having very challenging times. No amount of Cube developments, Fish hook well architecture or fancy PowerPoint presentations are going to save them…

Sometime restructuring and layoffs are required to make the organization more efficient. This is just like resetting all of the switches and modems in a computer network to get rid of stale addresses, etc. The network runs more efficiently once clean up is done.

Layoffs are needed. Too much fat in many places. It was needed years ago. It’s time to right size Oxy for the future

Layoffs rarely do anything other than a temporary bump in stock price. Key word is temporary. They aren’t a long term solution.

That is stupid for her to say no layoffs. She should have said that no layoffs are planned but business situations may result in restructuring and layoffs. A CEO cannot be a friend to all. This is just like a parent treating a child like a friend. It doesn’t work. You need tough love sometimes.

@dt Let me walk you through it. Pretend I’m talking real slow. @bm posts “We are the operator of choice.” Then, @ca states he/she likes the “operator of choice” posts. It’s not necessary to use the @ in order to reply. @ca is the same poster as @bm. (By the way, @bm is appropriately descriptive.) He/she does this all the time.

@c9 they’re the same trolls that predicted certain bankruptcy in 2020. No one posting on this little site knows any of the details of Oxy’s plans for 2026. Especially OP that somehow hears an increasing chorus. (What is the difference between a chorus and an increasing chorus). If you want news, read business news sites. Don’t expect anything real here. But it is entertaining.

I love the ongoing joke 'Operator of Choice' and the fact so many people inside and outside of Oxy still run with it for a little humor on this board.

Lol to the trolls posting below. They know nothing. I’ve read on this site how layoffs were coming every month for years and guess what, they haven’t happened yet.

Predict that Oxy future state looks totally different soon…

Oh BTW said the same thing to Hess COO in 2019…His response Hess is a generational legacy company with advantaged assets…You hear absolutely nothing about Hess and its assets today…Similar story for Oxy…

There will be no layoffs until there are layoffs - just like the dividend was “one of the defining characteristics” of the company, until it wasn't.

VH says the darnedest things.

With RJ in his new role that might be the opening for a reorg and staff reductions. It will be easier to put it on the new COO than the CEO that has said no layoffs for a long time, and wears that like a badge of honor. Just look at all the direct reports to RJ now.

Oxy isn't a daycare... Don't always look to the older experienced staff to appease the layoff gods. Assets will be sold, staffing will be rebalanced. Won't matter how old you are. Welcome to the business you signed up for. You can't expect the shareholders to put up with a low 40's stock price forever. VH and the board answer to them.

@Br is not wrong. She has repeatedly said no layoffs when asked by employees in townhalls. Doesn’t mean it’s true but that is what she has said.

Post ID: @bm+1k8j0e4jz

A reorg would be great. This company’s structure does not make sense. I do believe they are digging their heels in on doing a layoff but at some point a reorg/getting rid of some roles will happen. How large that will be? No idea…..

I think a VSP plus Oxy Chem employees going with the sale would solve a lot of the problem. There is a whole group of older employees willing to leave and that would save many jobs for the younger employees. I did hear there was going to be some changes or reorgs soon, so maybe after that we will see where the chips fall. But there are those that just don't perform that need to either improve or be pushed out. I think this will happen in 2025 and not 2026.
