I was interviewed on May 11, and extended a job offer on June 12. Thoughts?

@da they laid people off 3 days into onboarding last May, FYI.
I am starting in authorizations next month. I doubt they would layoff someone who is starting mid July.
It’s a terrible place to work even before having to worry about massive layoffs.
I am in leadership and been with company for 11 years. This really is typical to hire at same time as lay offs and having some folks voluntarily leave with the VSP. I will though head warning as I think back about 6 years ago. I hired about 25 employees during a hiring spree cans then came the work force reduction a year later and only about 4 of those people I had hired was safe and the rest got their positions eliminated due to work force reduction. So long story short, you most likely will be safe for about a year but guaranteed next time as we all know there will be one, you probably will be at risk. Hope this makes sense. It’s happening all over in our insurance industry really, not just here at Centene. Good luck everyone. We are in constant changing times.
@aa That’s what has me curious. You’d think they would’ve accounted for this position already, but I’d hate to take the job in July and be let go in August. Supposedly “essential roles” can still be hired, just need to inquire about the status of mine. Feels yucky all around.
@a4 🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
What’s crazy, in the video the ceo sent us, she said there was a hiring freeze
If you don’t have other options and need the job, take it. But continue to apply elsewhere because of major internal instability AND a toxic culture of overwork that is only going to get worse.
I was also offered a role and due to start end of this month. I am very uneasy about the whole thing !!
@a1 yeah, why can't they just make do with existing people instead of creating stupid positions and bloating teams even more?!
I don’t have anything to say other than that’s wild Centene is still hiring people amidst all this. I’m curious what department you’d be in?
