Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Go read the policy. It depends entirely whether your sabbatical was earned before or after the policy changed post-Pat. Most people have burned through their old policy sabbaticals which were payable upon exit if they hadn’t been taken. That isn’t the case under the new policy (2025). That’s why people were taking sabbaticals at odd times. They were getting rid of a benefit they won’t be paid for upon cpm. Your VP taking a 4 week in Jan who is no longer with the company? Bingo.

Check the Intel handbook: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/employee/leaving-intel.html
(click "show more" for sabbatical details on separation)

It also depends on which location/state, as not all benefits are equal across all sites.

In the past, Intel wouldn't allow employees under IR or CAP to schedule a sabbatical until their performance rating was restored. If your sabbatical was approved they will pay it out on your separation pay. If it was pending but not approved sorry but you lose it.
