Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How many offices are still open

Besides basking ridge and hidden ridge, how many people still have offices to report to for GNT? So sub markets still have hub offices? I think it’s ridiculous those that live near office have to go in 3 days week and some people are fully remote (same teams//same roles)

RTO never made sense for any other reason than to get people to voluntarily quit. I know of no one that has ever been written up or chastised for not coming to the office though. If you are an individual contributor you did your job fine during COVID and there is virtually no reason for you to come into the office anymore. I mean the office is louder, more chaotic, food is as expensive as anywhere else. People are more likely to stand around and socialize than do actual work. The commute time of the individual gets baked into the work day more often than not because they only have so many hours before they need to take care of the household. It is abhorrently inefficient. To top it all off very few teams are fully located in one office. So you are effectively coming in to simply jump on conference calls with teams from all over the world literally. I can understand a once a week requirement just because we are social animals and there is genuine need for socialization with one another. Outside of once a week though it is strictly suboptimal working conditions. Also just imagine the savings if VZ truly sold off all its offices and cancelled all leases.

@c5 I guess you mean Tulsa and I was astonished at that post by the Finance VP in question. How tone deaf can you get…they basically said look how happy everyone is not to have an office anymore. The expressions on the faces of the audience just said it all. Even St-lin would have been embarrassed to have posted this alternative truth!

@eh all of our jobs can be done from home. Wish they’d let us all wfh. It’s not fair to force half people in office and not everyone.

Alpharetta North Point is still open and fairly crowded (on Tues-Thurs).

I know people complain but the building is fine and not falling apart. Can't comment on the cafeteria as I don't eat there.

Unfortunately Hidden Ridge is sticking around....

Funny, 'Hidden' Ridge.... that place hides so much, the shady deals, lack of real accountability - you name it.... It could close, and no one would miss that place (even though the building itself deserved better tenants).

Our leader made a post saying how inspiring it was to see us take pictures with Verizon propaganda right before our office closed. Hilarious
