Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Might be time to leave

I’ve seen friends and colleagues develop serious health problems because of the pressure here. Stress seems to be the norm and the leadership couldn't care less about balance or wellbeing. Watching people struggle like that makes it hard to stay motivated and makes me think twice about sticking around.

@dz - There are far too many "Karens" at Truist. I honestly can't imagine being under one of their leadership. The main reason I stick around at Truist is because I truly value my boss and their boss. I'm genuinely grateful for both of them!

@by Truist has never had a healthy culture—it’s been toxic from the start. What you’re describing comes from the two heritage organizations that each had their own decent cultures, but when Truist merged them, it crushed both and created the cesspool we see today..

@OP - Truist used to be an awesome place to work. The culture was chill, you could balance work and life without feeling burned out, and the team was easy to work and get along with. But after the merger, everything changed. They brought in leaders from Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and JPMorgan Chase, and the whole culture has changed for the worse. Now, it’s just like working at any of the big banks. Honestly, I get why people say the culture’s gone downhill; now it feels more like a Big 4 consulting firm or one of the big banks. Don’t think switching to one of them will be any better, though. It won’t.
