Got my package! Paid off my car, credit card, personal loan, and 2 months of my mortgage. Another job secured! For a lot of us, the VSP was a much needed blessing. A win is a win! I wanted to spread some GOOD NEWS for folks who are still trying to secure a job and wait on their package. It’s coming your way! You will WIN!
Side note: avoid a lot of the negativity on here. It’s not worth digging into.

@OP @OP congrats!!! that's the way to do it.
Initially, I took the VSP, but I pulled mine back to Decline as I didn't want to be job searching right alongside 3000 of my closest centeamers.
And at the time, I figured if I "separated" 09/04, then I would not see the payout until close to Halloween. That Oct rent payment would have been super late & my dbag landlord starts eviction paperwork if it's not paid by the 16th.
Turns out I had access to some liquidity that I didn't think I had.
If/when I get the Invol RIF, I'm going to be regretting my decision. But I feel pretty good...so far.

@bq with a lump sum I believe you get taxed the rate you would for any regular pay, except for the portion that bumps you up to a higher bracket, if applicable, for the tax year?

@dz I came to encourage those who needed a little up lifting! The negativity has consumed this entire community. Someone be a bright light! It’s encouragement that your blessing is on the way too. It’s crazy bc folks are hurting bc they were let go, others are hurting bc they stayed. Pick and choose your battles. Some are worth fighting and some are worth walking away. Now, you can have your pity party tonight, but get up in the morning!!
@bq they taxed the HECK out of this thing, but I made it work with what I had and took a job with much lower pay. All the best to you!
@e7 Yea, nope. I accepted the VSP and didn’t have a job lined up. SMH! All I had was hope and a prayer. I believe my experience and what I brought to the table was going to take me somewhere. I applied and was turned for many positions. Did I accept a job position in a different line, and pay cut b/c I needed employment? Yes, I did! I put my dignity to the side, su-ked it up, and did what I had to do. Keep entertaining negativity and watch how that consumes you. You are what you think 💭
To the rest of you staying positive, watch these doors open for you in ways you didn’t imagine. Find the right kind of people to be around you❤️
@OP You were able to dip out early on your terms with a decent VSP package and a job waiting for you. You aren't stuck in a later VSP wave and still dealing with the ongoing possibility of being let go or getting so fed up that you leave with nothing but your last paycheck. "A win is a win?" C'mon. The only people who won are those who contributed to this whole mess in the first place and still get to jet off with their tens of millions and their puffer vests.
Good for you but there are many of us who did the same thing that you did, applied for the VSP hoping to get out soon and yet we're still stuck here and dealing with no direction, toxicity and higher workloads left behind by those who were let go involuntarily or whose VSP dates were 9/4 like yours. Sometimes there can be a very thin line between sharing a personal victory story and coming across as gloating, whether you meant to or not. I'm not trying to poke a hole in anybody's balloon but many of us left at Centene will now be heading into the holidays anxious, depressed, demoralized and exhausted while your situation worked out exactly how you wanted it to. You were very lucky and statistically speaking, it is unlikely that the majority of us will be as lucky as you say you've been. That's just life.
I say this respectfully but you may want to remember your audience next time.
I have not received my severance package yet from my ISP. I also have not found a job. But thankfully this was not my only income. But I do need to apply for unemployment.
It’s great for those who were able to quickly find a job like yourself or were planning to retire anyway. The job market is terrible right now so it’s a huge gamble especially for those who were taxed at 40%.
You’re lucky, some of those left behind are dealing with severe anxiety and a huge load of extra work they were given little training for because the team leading the transformation forgot to account for the fact that actual change management is a thing.
You got on the life raft of a sinking ship of employee sentiment.
