Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

IP Address Tracking is now live for RTO

Just an FYI. Our division head was told Friday, IP address tracking and log in times are now being used to cross check FULL days in office. The reporting has always been around, senior management is now reviewing on a monthly basis.
There is discussion regarding adding a dropdown when logging in as well. Attesting when you are logging in, In Office or Remote.

I’ve never worked at a place where they put this much effort into trying to punish employees.

Ok track us. Enough people dont comply and it gets expensive for them to replace us. Thats facts. Let em keep destroying themselves with these metrics. There comes a point to take a stand and there are more of us then them. Even if you complied and are perfect they'll let u go cuz youre only a # on a spreadsheet. You wanna be on your knees all the time or stand for something?

Manager here, and I'll say it again. I have no idea what's happening above me in terms of reporting or micromanaging around this topic of tracking hours in the office.

But it is a fact that there were efforts or there are still efforts in progress to install some software on our machines and to track this exact metric.

Let's just say I know people in infosec who have to vet software like this for risk and security and they absolutely had to vent this type of software and one of those software vendors got selected.

I just don't know if it's been fully implemented and if so what the business processes are around it to start tracking.

It's either here or it will be soon.

@cr I suspect there will be protocols in place to track outliers, and if a manager suspects an employee is saying they are coming in but never seem to be in the office, they can trace it.
I highly doubt it will become part of monthly reporting to all leaders.

This is fake. Trolls are posting the same RTO conspiracies on other employer threads.

Do we think leaders will actually look at the times or are they weeding out people who don’t come in at all first? How long to count as a “full day” do we think?

@bm We're not union, but I wish we could organize as a group and say we're not doing this RTO thing when it's been proven we can do the job at home.

I doubt this will be used unless you’re already a poor performer.

What do we expect when our CEO (who gets a 300%+ bonus) lives in a hotel next to the office?

This company is a dumpster fire. I hope when they propose the deal to be bought by PNC regulators shut it down, the stock price goes to zero and the board loses their vacation homes.

The president gets to wage war from his home office but you're telling me I have to come into this shithole to stare at excel? Give me a break.

@bf you have NO idea what India or China are today (or since 1990's). I think you are stuck in some black & white movies of 1960's. For my American family and friends, this is an assumption akin to all Blacks are Slaves in USA (before Emancipation Proclamation).

P.S: I am half Indian (moms side) and half caucasian (dad) and studied 4 years in middle school in India when my dad was posted at the U.S.Embassy in India.

What if at least 50% of the workforce doesnt do it? Make it expensive for them. File FMLA and take leave. Can they replace you? Of course they can but replacing hundreds or thousands of employees is expensive and causes quite an interruption in profitability and production. How far do they wanna go and how far are you willing to let them?!

@b8 what makes you think this isn’t already happening? It is a capability.

@aw

Indianization. The Indians born and raised in American are some of the smartest contributors at the bank. The Indians from India were raised with the master-slave (brahmin-dalat, etc.) culture/mentality.

They're like the top 10% of high school students from the worst intercity schools with rampant grade inflation. Think they're hot sh-t, attend a flagship university and meltdown because they're unequivocally the bottom of the pack. Also, rampant fraud/corruption/bribery because their privileged caste position let them get away with it ("when you're a star, they let you do it").

All-in effort to get more people to voluntarily quit. In my case, I've never seen this much energy put into returning to an office that's less than half full. And now I have to go to an office where none of my team is and sit there for a full day - just to say yes, you've hit your badge count for the week/month. Ridiculous!

@OP they won’t take any action based on IP address. There are still a lot of hybrid employees not coming in at all that are of bigger concern to weed out. Furthermore the concern of micromanagement would be severe in the eyes of most employees. If hybrid is tracked via IP, are we going to track remote employees keystrokes?! Seems fair
