@br 💯!
A million dollars..I’ll leave.
🍿
@bd You wouldn’t last an hour.
@c2 100%
In NY all outside jobs are under field tech title. There is no top craft all field techs are paid the same no matter the work. Same as inside. Testers, carrier(all frame techs are now cot),switch are COT techs. This is the bulk of union workers besides reps and various other titles with fewer members. There are TTA's who make more but title is grandfathered and no one can upgrade. It dies out when the last TTA retires.
@bx ummm,hate to burst your bubble but linemen are top craft. Most dangerous job in the company
Aren’t installers top craft?
@bd It's evident you people have no clue what a top craft job is . To make it the most simple to understand. They are bringing new hires in at top craft (splicer, ect) and installing them into lower positions (LIKE THE LINE CREW) and others. This has been happening for sometime.
@br You think? They are hired as splicers and put in line crew. Anyone that has worked here fir awhile knows what the top craft jobs are. Ge-z
Line crew is not “top craft”
@be The fact that there are still COT’s that are still looking for a package is insane. Crazy how many are still employed doing nothing
Everyone saying there’s an offer coming, when? Tomorrow? Next week? Next month?
Please let this come down to the central office technicians.🙏🙏🙏
Line crew are a bunch of knuckle draggers. Their competence level is not a high bar. Be better off with splicers.
@b7 it’s gonna be HUUUUGGGGEEEE!
In hearing a really big offer is coming. Get rid of everyone that is still pension eligible. Replace with new work force that they can control. No layoff protection for new hires. A more disposable work force.
Sad, this use to be a career job. Company doesn’t want that anymore.
@as If you can do it, that's great. But life tends to throw curve ba--s at people. Maybe a surprise late divorce, maybe adult kids still on your medical plan, etc .. Suddenly you need an extra couple hundred K to fall out of the sky onto you.
@aq truth. I wouldn't call people dinosaurs, but as a recent retiree, I can attest to not getting time back. Wish I had retired a few years ago.
@ac
No not really. They hire Top craft ( which they have been doing) top craft can work down in lower titles.
Many are in line crew.
Seems like a lot of people here should be able to afford retirement but would rather whine and cry about an offer and work another 4 years. You old dinosaurs can’t get time back,enjoy life before you drop dead on VZ time
if Dan has any brains (and I think he does) he can save the company literally a billion dollars or more in salaries over the next 4 years with a better than usual EISP offer with some kind of bridge to Medicare included in it.
@ac naive. The language was written by them to be interpreted by them.
Wouldn’t they need a new/updated union contract to make the universal tech thing happen or am I being naive??
An EISP would need to be much better than the usual ones that have previously come out due to the medical insurance cap threshold being exceeded. If not, they've got us old timers for four more years, per the contract. I look at it this way, if they sweeten the pot with a better than usual EISP, wonderful. If they don't sweeten the pot, I'll make another $600k off of them.
@a4 don’t be a fool !!! listen hopefully at the age of having the time in you don’t have small kids and a family plan if so that was poor planning !!!! If it’s just you and your wife you can switch to the cheaper plan it’s not that much a month for 2 with ability every 30 days you can switch back if you plan to have a major surgery.I mean honestly a lot of people also have spouses who they can go on their medical until it’s cheaper at the Medicare age once there jump back the retirement benefits are always there !!If there is a will there is a way.But if your in mid 50-60 and you have small kids well your probably not ever retiring anyway so don’t worry about packages or retirees benefits cause by time they are in college it’s gonna be about $200,000 a year .But for those who planned a extra money package at the very least will pay for their medical premiums till they are Medicare eligible
Universal tech has always existed on the VZB side, and it suuuuuuuuccckkkkssss.
"Yeah, we're gonna need you to be proficient in every facet of this business.....and be trained in none of it."
"Just get it done."
"Don't worry. You'll figure it out."
Best of luck if that is accurate.
what do you mean by "of age?" At this point with having to kick in for the medical insurance if you're pre Medicare age "of age" suddenly means 65 years old.
