Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Why doesn't the Command Centre get any recognition?

They are absolutely breaking their backs to keep major incidents from spiralling yet they get no acknowledgement from the customer or their own management.

Is this how it is across the entire business? Would it be feasible for us to get our own side hustle despite working on site five days a week?

@r4 That pretty much sums up any job in IT currently.
All the SI's are moving in the same direction, reducing everything to the lowest they can get away with to keep the revenue coming in.
Unless you're in "management" there is no future in IT.
The days of you being that geek and fixing stuff are long gone.

@OP there's 111,000 people here. Do you imagine anyone really knows what half of those do?

It's perfectly possible quite a few do a reasonable job under difficult conditions... And get f all recognition of any kind... Including that the board knows they even exist.

Welcome to working for a vast mega Corp. You are obviously new here...

@OP At least management know you exist, there are some teams , where the staff tell
management they actually exist when they didn’t know, you couldn’t make this stuff up.

@kr+ They get paid alot more than others, and on top they get a hefty shift allowance aka bonus for nothing.

Don't take it personally. Nobody in DXC gets any recognition. In fact IT is well known for being an industry that nobody ever says thank you. Customers just expect it to work perfectly 100.00000000% of the time. You only hear anything from them when there's a problem.

If you want recognition go wait tables where you will get lots of thank you's and tips every shift. But unlike DXC, you actually have to work for your money.

@gh+1m31p2dad yep useless B tried to build an empire by creating the center. Then paid a load of shift allowances all this to prevent normal staff claiming out of hours for work. They do inefficient 12 hour shifts get a whole load of days of in exchange. The whole "white elephant project" cost is extortionate and the turnover of staff is high so no one knows what they are doing.

All for Useless B to keep control. The project needs to be un done.

Wouldn’t give nothing more, half ar-e the jobs too. Already get a juicy shift allowance and clearance bonus in UK. So jarring to hear wanting recognition. Cry more boys no one will hear you still.

Probably because there isn’t only one command centre. It’s not a unique thing. DXC has several, often with different names. They also support customer “command centres”. There are also teams that support critical customer operations where they just refer to the team as the account theme. The OP’s world view seems very narrow by asking this question.

@b0 I'll big up the CC crew once it's confirmed they're on top of their timesheet and annual security training obligations, not before.
