Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

November Layoffs

For the person that said Layoffs are coming Nov 17 & 18, I can confirm that this is real. I was accidentally copied on an email that I shouldn’t have been. I don’t know how they can layoff anymore people from that team because they already have a skeleton crew and if we’re supposedly in the cloud, wouldn’t you need engineers to make sure the customers products continue to work. It’s just in time before the All-Company Meeting. I’m sure SM will put on his sad face and pretend the layoffs break his heart. His song and dance is getting old. I pray for the best for those affected by the layoffs. May you find stable, healthy employment quickly.

@16b what do you think is the major roadblock for not getting an offer? My number will be up any time now. Had couple interviews but they found better candidates. Is that it? Too many great candidates chasing small number of available jobs?

The concern is not so much for offshore with TD but onshore. I have heard as well there are conversation of layoff via PIP and for most affected is based on historical data are those that have been with the company for 10 to 20 years with spotless Q reviews which is sad as I believe is a kn--e in the back and the sad part is they are not ready for retirement meaning SSD is far less and unable to sign up for medical (Medicare, medical) which means higher cost for those. the second piece is the job market is at its worst. wish everyone luck headcount is low everyone is over worked, hang in there and hope SM vision comes into play for the good of the company. I was let go this year due to re-org and I'm still looking for work. The positive piece is I'm in the process to get my MPI and next is LLM certification, let's hope my age does not hit a wall. Happy holidays to all.

@OP The email CC was not accidental, but served a purpose. Now we know who you are. But you don't know that we know. They certainly do not know if we know what you don't know but you may never know or they already knew.

MF knew or so we think. But who knows if they are HR in India or not. Interestingly this site assigned MF as a tag to someone claiming to be HR at teradata. That is rude but funny you know.

@OP dang OP you really got my hopes up. At this point I'd rather be on unemployment than TD payroll

@mf The people who should own products & business are all scrambling with concern, seeing the declining revenue YoY, but the team thats supposed to look after people (who ever is left) is now talking about business, but conveniently works hand-in-glove with the ELT in issuing PIPs to people to avoid giving a severance package. So yes, there is probably no mass layoff because @mf is busy issuing PIPs and giving people 30 days time to quit the company on their own and saves the company $$$ by not having to pay severance packages.

@rv Why are you wasting your time on this forum? There is no point in attacking anyone. If you hate it so much here the door is wide open for you buddy. You can go find another job in the unemployment line if you hate working or you can get your act together and start doing your job.

@mf you chose to be HR in hydrabad? Could be anybody. A film star, politician, NASA engineer, celebrity of any kind or even SM. No wait, not SM. If you are young, please go look for another job. Plenty job moving from US, get one. Old? Stay for the severance.

@mf Like US HR is going to share layoff strategy with you? Hardly.

@ma Respectfully what do I have to gain by coming here and lying that there's no layoffs? I am in HR in the Hyderabad offices so our cycles might be different from the USA but based on what we know the US is healthy

@ja Nobody cares who you represent. You’re a corporate shill who simply likes to post to see reactions. Maybe if you spent your time creating value, Teradata would be successful.

@fn you are right, at the end of the day you cannot prove who I am. There is no reason for me to lie on an anonymous forum though, 11/17 will come around and everyone here will still be employed. There is no need to personally attack someone for speaking the truth, and derailing the conversation. Teradata does try to keep their people whenever they can, that is a truth.

HR today, engineer tomorrow, leader of yesterday, ship of a bygone era. Finally realize the true advantage of internet. Can post anything anonymously from anywhere. Neither visa nor accountability is required or expected. Does not matter if you are from far east or up north, HR/engineer/cloudy td - you are disgusting every way.

@dk Is this the same HR person who said there would not be layoffs just as our friend from EMEA announced the layoffs there?

Just sharing a bit of reassurance here: I’m with HR, and there are no layoffs planned at Teradata this month. I know things can feel especially stressful around the holidays, and uncertainty doesn’t make it any easier. If anyone has concerns or questions, I encourage you to reach out directly to your supervisor or HR, we’re always available to talk through anything on your mind. Management does genuinely care from the ELT down to middle management and we do our very best to assist all outplaced employees.

Someone was "accidentally" copied in an email (can happen), comes here to share detail (bless your heart), hints a possible group (bravado), finally wishes "stable, healthy employment" - priceless.

Lots of companies need to make cuts in underutilized business areas or let go of underperforming staff. Teradata business is healthy and the company is in an excellent direction with the cloud growth. Keep your eye on the target, you'll be fine

Not surprising but agree, how much staff can they continue to cut and still contractually support their (dwindling) customer base?? Evidently ELT now focusing on the EPS numbers for next quarter (more smoke and mirrors) and doing this now to avoid paying staff during the upcoming holidays...
