Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Isn’t EH the best?

I have been telling that he is not a great CEO, we need someone with a backbone to make big changes.

EH is one of the best CEOs that we've had in years.

@aw

if Strasser was hired today, he would be managed out within a couple of weeks for having the audacity to have his own opinions

@aw Careful what you wish for. It’s not that Nike needs some random a--hole to take the reins and yell “just do it!” at their underlings while intimidating everyone. That leadership strategy only works when the person is genuinely visionary and leads the company towards a future which no one else could see. Otherwise it destroys morale and causes far more harm than good. No one on the SLT is remotely close to this capacity. That leaves external hires. Want to bet the future on another outsider?

@OP agreed. JD was an a--hole going back to ebay.
EH is nice guy, hard working and people person but not sure if he teeth to cut it.
MP was talented in design since he has eyes for it. But got little weird at the end letting insanes run the asylum.
PK was enigmatic and not a people person but would let his underlings do the things until he or she failed.

Steve Jobs was not a nice guy but talented and eyes for future that is second to none. First time he got kicked out of Apple was because he drove everybody crazy.
Rob Strasser in Nike was immensely talented but rubbed few people wrong way including PK. Everyone agrees that he was talented.

Steve Jobs and Strasser is what Nike needs not a feel good guy. Because this HMS Titanic sinking few inches everyday and pretty soon it will not be salvageable.
