Benefits Rant

What a shame. Every year 1000s of companies renegotiate with insurers to cut benefits... Sick... Millions of Americans fight, every day, to avoid medicl bankruptcy. They pay taxes close to those in European countries with universal healthcare, yet get almost nothing in return. Healthcare +education are sooooooooo essential for a strong society. Still we Americans make sure both cost the most in the world (and reach the fewest)...

@an Remember also that it is funded by WFC, so they are actually deciding at a higher level what medications are covered etc while UHC administers the claims. Just in case you're wondering why you can't even get pre-auth for a non-generic medication AT ALL.

In my circle of friends, our coverage is easily the shittiest when considering anything beyond preventative activity, and even that is weak when it comes to blood work.

@d1 It's so convenient for you that you all ignore how Nixon got elected by getting the racist wing of what was then the Democratic Party to vote Republican. They did, and never looked back.

But that doesn't fit your narrative, does it?

Why is the K-K based in one of the reddest cities, in one of the reddest districts, in one of the reddest states in the USA? That doesn't sound like a Democrat-run organization. Why was one of their foremost leaders praised by Herr Trump in his first go around in the oval office?

Reality is a bit painful for you, isn't it?

@kc tell us you have no way to rebut the argument other than blame someone for watching real news and calling them a title that is completely the opposite of what you think it is.

Since you apparently need a remedial education about what fascism actually is:

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement that rose to prominence in early-20th-century Europe. Fascism is characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived interest of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy. Opposed to communism, democracy, liberalism, pluralism, and socialism, fascism is at the far right of the traditional left–right spectrum.

I've personally never heard anyone accuse MSNBC of being far-right, that's typically OANN, RSBN, Newsmax, and Fox News.

Universal healthcare doesn’t work. I have a rare condition and literally everyone in my support group comes or tries to come to America for treatment. Why? Because it takes years to even be seen, let alone be diagnosed and treated in their countries. Once they are seen, they don’t have the luxury of finding a doctor that they like or puts the patient first.

It's funny watching the racist boomer try to slam socialist healthcare as communism. The ACA is taking over? If that's the case, why have the GOP congress cut as much out of it every single year they've had the chance? The only reason the ACA (based on Romneycare) is failing, is because the GOP are determined to make it fail.

Go look at the polling, and you'll see that the majority of the country wants it. Every other first-world country makes it work, but the billionaire class (the ones who got Trump re-elected and have been sipping at his government trough - hello Elon Musk getting billions funneled to SpaceX - or getting appointed to his cabinet).

You can parrot all the lies you want, the American people are waking up to the class warfare you're promoting. Try as you may to yank that ladder up behind you, there's more of us to pull it back down than there are of you trying to pull it up.

@aw - Look at the complexion of the border jumpers and they bring down the health numbers very quickly… Sure Europe has immigration, but nothing close to our numbers. Also, Europeans have better diets / active lifestyles.

The working class is voting Republican right now, while Democrats are attracting the affluent and the elites. Very soon we’ll have a situation where both R and D will be pro-social healthcare / mark my words. I’m personally against socialized healthcare, but everything points in this direction.

The political paradigm is shifting, and the cost to society of maintaining the current system is now higher than the cost of dismantling it / so we’ll dismantle it. It’s similar to what happened with smoking: once the cost to society became too large, we quickly changed our stance and pushed smoking to the margins of society.

If we have a better healthcare system than Europe, why do they live longer than us?

Why do they have less birth fatalities?

Why do we have public schools when private schools are better?

Federal/State governments are the payer for 50% of healthcare costs.

Socialized medicine is an old failed idea, which was ironically very popular in Soviet Russia. Keep pretending that you disagree with them if you feel like it, but it doesn't sound like you do, at all.

And the left can't comprehend that our system increasingly gets worse as more and more of it has been taken over by the government. Obamacare was supposed to solve it all. Save over $2000/year, remember? Who's healthcare is cheaper now than when ACA passed? Oops. Our system doesn't su-k because it's private, our system su-ks because the gov IS taking it over. You want "VA care" or "soviet care", go for it. I don't.

The right can't comprehend that our idea of social programs is not letting people die in/from medical debt.

It really says a lot that these people think they aren't one healthcare crisis from being the next s-b story, despite the average household no longer earning enough to afford their residence and necessities.

@a9 will probably start mulltiple gofundme pages when they are afflicted by a medical crisis, not realizing the very "socialism" they hate is exactly what they will be engaging in.

@ag Our health insurance is through united healthcare, they literally have the absolute worst denial rate in the entire industry. Their CEO literally got capped over how fu--ing bad their practices are. You are out of your mind if you think our insurance is remotely close to "good."

As a percentage of our income, we actually pay more than almost any other developed nation. And that's taxes-not including premiums, deductibles, co-pays, fees, "F U because what else are you gonna do, die?" surcharges, and so on.

America is a developed nation for 1-5% of its citizens, and a third-world kleptocracy for the remaining 95%. We just have better branding than your average financial dumpster fire.

I feel our benefits are actually fairly strong. My, and kids, health insurance is much better than my wife's.

Also your comparison of US taxes vs say Sweden is very misguided. We pay much lower taxes than them. Some of those counties pay 50% in taxes. I bet you pay around 20%.

But, but, billionaires need more tax cuts! Mr. Oz that "leads" WF said that yeah, more poor people will be worse off, but the wealthy will be better off, so it'll even out. SMFH

Our country is so backwards in so many ways.

(in case it's missed, this post is agreeing with OP and being sarcastic re: billionaires needing more).
