Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Has anyone gotten an enhanced severance offer if they were discriminated against?

I’m talking the only person over 40, only person who used FMLA, only person who had an ADA accommodation on their team?

I know of one employee who argued to HR that she was being discriminated against and she got a better package. The payout was the same , but she was able to get 24 months of health benefits (medical). True story.

@ay With Dan at the helm, there won't be another VSP, only consistent RIF's until he gets the stock price where he promised. Remember, he only has 3 years to do it, then his contract is over!

Complain to the EEOC if you are "discriminated" against, more likely an excuse to not come to work and scare off supervision to call you out on it.

Directors don't even know who is picked any more. Consultants do everything. No input on ADA, no input on how vital you are. If you cost more, you are the first to go.

They are making the Circuit City mistake that ended up leading to their demise * firing the most valuable employees because they cost more, not realizing the expense of experience and knowledge loss.

Opposite. The packages are shrinking. Can't go into detail yet but no point holding out for a package any more if that's why you stay on.

And don't think you can win a discrimination suit. Everything is metrics on a spreadsheet run by consultants now. They see how much you cost, not why. It supposedly keeps the company protected from bias. But the more you cost the company, the higher on the list you go.

I'll be happy with 2 weeks per year severance, but the problem is they won't lay me off. I need that before I start looking for a new job. 😂

I can't recall the last time I asked my teammates if they have an ADA accommodation. Knowing the wide range that ADA covers, how did you aquire the knowledge that you are the only one with an accommodation?

Honestly i wish they would fire me and give me a package and the time i need to retire. I have been discriminated and harassed by this company for years. BS investigations, suspensions, my boss calls labor relations every chance he gets with me. I like to know similar people going through this and bring a massive case against VZ for the stress they are causing me and my family.

Take the money and head to work someplace else. There will be no enhancement.

There are no enhanced offers (unless it's a VSP). You either sign the severance or you forfeit it and sue, that is if you can find an attorney to take the case. You might very well be the only person with those 3 circumstances in your group, but you have to look across the entire business case you were included in, something you don't have the ability to do, but believe me, the lawyers have.

Trust me. I know how it feels, but your energy is better spent taking your $ and leaving Vz behind. Yes, even in this job market.

Ask yourself this. Were you really discriminated against or do you have a victim mentality?
