Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Something feels off across the company lately

After the merit inconsistencies last year, some groups losing bonuses, and now the 401k match being reduced, it feels like employees keep taking the hits. And during the town halls, the leadership messaging doesn’t seem to land anymore. There’s a big disconnect between what’s being said at the top and what people are actually feeling day to day. A lot of us don’t feel understood or valued. Morale feels low, people are tired, and many feel disconnected from the mission.

Good point, @af+1kc2cc38k.

@ft where's your evidence? Also, this has not happened at UMR

@be You should really do some research on this company. The CEO who got shot believed AI could do it better and deliver customer service cheaper. He instituted a lot of those changes. Erin Lett who was hired for the company right before the Change debacle was hired to transition the company to automation bits. That’s what she was known for. The CFO who just left and others hired are big into AI , UHG has hired over 2000 system engineers in India and are boasting they have thousand of applications that are AI driven and will be used to improve customer service. Go to x and follow the medical quack and u see what UHG / Optum is up too.

@OP What is the message. In the UR dept it has always been to make sure that they pay as little as they can for their members care . How to get members from using their health benefits . It’s never been about helping people live a healthier life. I use to shudder everytime I heard them parrot that and expected to see all their noses get longer and longer .

@OP I am completely disconnected. Between RTO and the 401k change, it seems they don't care about us at all.

@b2 and what evidence is there that leadership thinks that? It certainly has not materialized on the UMR side. And by evidence, I'm talking about hard evidence. Not something you heard from somebody else on the grapevine.

@af it doesn’t matter if AI can or cannot do those things. What matters is leadership thinking AI can reduce overhead costs. They will implement regardless of the reality on the ground.

@ad that's complete bullsh-t. AI cannot emulate emotion in phone calls very well, and never will. Stop being paranoid

Absolutely, I couldn't have articulated this better myself.
