There's no reason to stay anymore

The money used to make the stress worth it but weak raises ki-led that advantage years ago. Now there's no path up, no relief in sight, and I'm starting to feel like an id--t for still being here.

@ry thanks for the economics/business 101 lesson buddy. Yes, a business must make money, we get that obvious fact. He-l, I'm actually "pro-capitalism"; love free enterprise and all that.

But let's be frank: L3Harris is fundamentally dysfunctional operationally. Whether this be from strictly bad decision making by leadershiolp or an attempt to get the company lean enough to sell off in the next few years...I have no further information either way. What I do know is that they are running the standard corporate playbook of mass layoffs with the front-facing excuse of "AI Innovation", while on the backend their H1B hiring has been at a sustained high point for a the last couple years. Wonder what the DoW Inspector General will have to say when they find out non US-citizens are handling and leaking confidential government data...

This isn't even mentioning the fact that nearly half of all job postings listed on the l3harris site by HR have no intention of being filled, it's simply a ruse to give the false perception of innovation and bolster their stock price. This is obviously pure speculation and not based on information given to me from the source, of course.

While it may not immediately help their situation to complain about it, venting is more healthy than bottling it all up like a good corporate cog...or "livestock" as you so affectionately referred the employees as.

@ry I don’t get the understanding that people feel it’s personal. They do, however, feel confused at why poor leadership has been allowed to remain. Perhaps they will wise up and replace them-don’t know. The lack of faith in the leadership stems from them historically making bad decisions—one that is clearly the biggest and the most ignorant mistake is not listening to the boots on the ground of those that know what they are doing. The brilliant engineers who created the very products they bought the company for are waved off as ‘the company knowing better’ and doing it their way. They put a ‘one size fits all plug and play’ business model on distinctly different businesses and the failure is clear. Instead of working together and collaborating with the ones that know the products best, they ignored their wisdom and lost all the money they invested in when they bought those businesses … businesses they bought for those very successes. Engineers became disheartened and frustrated at the lack of being heard and failure to be able to create, programs went flaming red and though they had no control, were blamed for those failures. This caused-and is still causing-huge talents to get fed up and walk out the door. Had they listened, and worked with the ones that know rather than trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, the company would look a lot better right now with less red margins instead of the toxic culture they have propagated and began moving backwards instead of forward. In fact, Fast forward…. (Yes that was definitely sarcasm)

It's not personal. The people who run this company do so at the beheast of the board of directors who represent the shareholders. That means if the CEO doesn't operate in a manner that makes a profit, he loses his nice job and all the money that goes with it. Likewise for the rest of the leadership. The board of directors has the authority to decapitate the leadership of the entire company if it deems necessary. If the company continues to operate in a profitable way by paying us as little as possible, they will continue to do so. So far, with so many people leaving the company, it appears the company has not suffered financially from this outward migration.
There will always be people in the company that are too unqualified or too unwilling to take a chance on working somewhere else. These "lifers", no matter how mediocre their performance, are apparently enough to sustain the company. If they weren't, the company would be far more competitive in the compensations it offers new hires. The leadership and the board of directors has the fiduciary responsibility to operate in a manner that most benefits the stakeholders. If they fail to do so, they can all be sued. The low pay, and inadequate health coverage, are not personal attacks on any of us. The company has nothing personal against any of us. We are a resource just as any other livestock is. It is not personal. It's business.

@em Promoting from within saves the company money by offering lower than industry standards to under qualified people. Just take the magic wand and tap it on the shoulder of an over ambitious assembler and voila you get a supervisor. Tap him again, and you get an engineer! No formal education needed! You can pay him peanuts because he won't be able to get a job with any other company and you have a convenience scapegoat to do both jobs for the price of less than one..

The company counts on people who have no other options. No other prospects. They're not worried about pay raises that don't keep up with inflation and they don't care about sub par health insurance for employees. They have you all locked in.

They are paying you just enough to not make you leave.. in their mind.

Don't stress. Just do the bare minimum not to get fired or "meet expectations."

Put yourself out there for new roles in other better companies. Apply for jobs during your breaks. Just don't use company equipment where they can track you.

Treat L3H and your paychecks an "investor" in your future so you can "increase your shareholder value" for yourself and your family.

Just remember God and your family love you always.

Take a lot at "leadership" background of the executives and the board. Good luck finding engineers and innovators. Its nearly all lawyers, accountants, hedge funders, and people from operations companies making tires, windows, doors, and air conditioners. Power companies, and airline operations rounds it out.

High Tech, defense, aerospace, or any trusted disruptors? Nope.

Now you see why things continue to operate the way they do. Might as well go back to building a printing press. Build to print of course.

@ad I've worked three decades in the engineering/manufacturing field and never had this low cost-of-living increases so miserly other than in 2008-2010. When VPs are directly asked at town hall about it they brush it off like a French noble telling us to eat cake.

It's like they want the business to fail. Maybe a hedge or to spin something off to a buddy. Or. They're stupid.

Honestly, the market should be concerned with how little the board is compensating for inflation. It's a terrible long term strategy, you're going to lose valuable people to attrition and ki-l future business wins through decline in quality and missed delivery dates.

This behavior should spook stock brokers that manage large portfolios for things like mutual funds and indexes.

Replace the board.
