@da you are one of the lucky ones since you were looking to have retire anyway. I can’t wait to get to that point… just need to work a few more years to save up, God willing.

As one who knew it was coming so raised my hand...Excellent! Looking forward to retirement with a check going out the door. I've paid my dues...time to do something else! Sorry for the younger folks. I've never quit a job without having another already lined up. I understand it is pretty tough right now. Cut costs and stay happy. Things will turn around. They always have!
@aa sounds like the layoff was probably a blessing for you! Giving you a reason to move out of a state you don’t enjoy. Good luck on your interview interviews!

While I still feel absolutely horrible every morning when I wake up without fail, I’m doing better as the day progresses. The job market is abysmal, but there are some positions available. I just get very frustrated when I see the number of applicants on LinkedIn that I’ve already applied to any given job. To think of ways that I can stand out in the marketplace, but it’s proving very difficult. I’ve gotten a lot of good advice from people I used to work with Verizon.
I have 7 interviews lined up from jumping onto job apps the week of the layoff. Moving back to Chicago and out of this absolute trash chute of a state by January.
I noticed a massive gap in experience for those laid off and myself. I was at Verizon for two years. So it's complicated. One hand I'm happy Verizon gave me an opportunity to start my career, on the other, wtf happened to this place? It felt like such a rapid decline in such a short time.
