Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Long term Oracle employee

Laid off this morning (US). Outstanding performance reviews, raise last year, RSU's, etc. At least they gave us a month on payroll for the RSU's to vest.

they gave you the two extra months for rsu's not out of the goodness of their hearts but because of the warn notice period

@aa to the guy with lengthy advice here, THANK YOU. I was impacted today, and yet I have this same attitude. Yes, disappointed that Oracle decided to terminate me or anyone else, but I agree Oracle training makes us valuable and ...I'll just say DITTO to everything else you said!

God bless you as well.

@aa Former O ee here. Left after 15 years of being dumped on. This line really hits hard. It is SO absolutely positively true. Those mgmt folks...when they get up in years....they will regret all the horrible things they did and ask for mercy...

Just remember Oracle training and experience makes you valuable. You know what to do but some times we need encouragement. So, keep your eyes and ears open and tell people what you did at Oracle and ask if they know where you might be a good fit. You'd be suprised how many people really want to help. Asking can open doors.

Refresh resume. Talk to head hunters and who knows? Maybe you'll get lucky and find something better in every way. Keep in touch with your Oracle team members and others maybe with the exception of O mid level mgmt. Other employees know much about what you've been through and they, too will want to help. Helping each other can be key for good thiings coming, opening-up on many levels. When you get hired asked new employer if they need others and ask if you recommend coworkers.

For years, many former Oracle employees would come here and report how much better work, money, life balance was. Many mentioned that they wished they had left sooner.

Finding a new job is not easy. There are times in life that it is good for all of us to be stretched, taken from our comfort zones. Look at this as a Great Adventure, looking for greener pastures. They do exist. Many do make better lives for themselves. There are alot of former Oracle people that have been out there for a while. Hopeful that many that know of jobs will be watching this site and help. Layoffs have always been in the water at Oracle. Not all Corps are managed like Oracle. There are good jobs with good people that treat people well. It is my hope that all that need a new job will find what is best for you.

Keep an open mind, think positive. Speak positive and you will be positve. Today is a good day and every day after will be even be better.
God bless you all.
