@br Severance does not count as employment. All RSU are forfeit the second you get the termination (RIF) notice and accept.
Sep 14th it is. No more Garden leaves.
@bx IIRC, last year garden leave ended on a Monday (Sept 22), which was the effective termination date.

Historically (dating back over previous years), Thursday's have been the preferred day. It allows the company to terminate at the end of the pay period with just 1 lost pay day (Friday) to the company's bottom line. It would also purge options that start to vest on Monday.

September 14th with 2 week notification period will let most September options vest. There are a number of M4 and above with options in this round that need to vest.

Everyone I’ve talked to says September 14th. I guess that’s really the only remaining day at this point. Someone high up must have decided they didn’t want layoffs to distract from the earnings call I guess. Not sure if that’s a good omen or bad omen for earnings.

When the quarterly announcement is made this week it should stipulate how much more money is allocated for "reorg". That will be the true barometer of RIFs to come.
Sep14 layoffs make no sense. Today it would make sense, because RSUs will be vesting starting next week (I got Sep14, Sep15 vesting dates and bit later).
Likely nothing will happen till end of month.
@a8 layoffs never stopped, they are ongoing since end of March. headcount is reduced by ~1k every month. there is no real reason to make large splashes, they just ki-l morale (if any left) and all remaining productivity while all workforce is doom-scrolling.
