@a8 does everyone know you are working them for a promotion?

@fk the problem described by hon culture - spend more time managing up and at all cost avoid a P&L position. best to hide under the skirt of your function and spend your time networking
@a9 VP’s are doing Xanax and now coke? Why are they not sharing? See. This is selfish. Once again proving only caring about themselves.
@a8 no - was headhunted
@a9 great question. I started as a director and moved up after about 2 years. Recommend that you network a lot with people who are above your pay grade, your peers in other parts of company and ensure that you do impactful work. Not busy work. My first boss (a VP) was a paper pusher who never went against the party line. I made sure that all his peers knew me and my work. I then actively monitored roles and when one opened up the hiring manager knew who I was and more importantly trusted my work.
This is a sad, 100% accurate, truth and the chief reason Aero is so glacially slow despite executives calling repeatedly for us to move faster.
We waste literally 25% of our time chasing budget/ charge numbers/ approvals/ dashboards/ PMO signoffs that have exactly nothing to do with delivering for our customers or shareholders.
@b7 sort of .. except it isn’t your immediate boss you need to su-k up too. Successful honaero fast movers know that you need to provide services to your the boss of your boss. That is who has the influence. Your boss is a patsy with no decision making power. Honeywell was designed this way to ensure all those “senior mgrs/directors” had as little influence as possible. Only VPs have actual budget steering and even they are limited.
@a9 you want to be a VP? That admission alone will get you a standing prescription for Xanax and a 30% off coupon for a family law attorney.
Is the 9 block system fixed? Meaning it doesn't really matter how hard or smart you work, if your boss does not like you then NO raise?
Senior Director with or without stock?
What department were you in? I know many of the GMs are irrelevant but functional directors can be relevant when they produce actual work products.
I was also a Senior Director and left Honeywell earlier this year before the MIP payout and all of the stock vesting. Even took a pay cut to move out of fear of becoming irrelevant. Although I miss Honeywell and it indeed has potential, the peace of mind and exposure to new age stuff made it worth it.
Recently visited a competitor as a client and was shocked to see so many familiar faces from Honeywell doing well. Great company but it is going through difficult times.
Did you climb up the ranks at HON? If so, any advice on moving roles internally? I’m a Director and everyone I meet Sr Director or higher looks unhappy/unhealthy or obviously on c0ke.
laid off?
