Will VZ pay my COBRA Premiums during my severance period? Workded here for @20 years. Husband was laid off in July and still has not found employment. I work until 2.16.2026. The Unaffordable Care Act looks horrendous with $6K deductible!

@a8 Severance period as in 2 weeks for every year worked up to 35 weeks.
@cv Yes, I was double checking what our daughter told me. She said the paperwork is voluminous AND she was told "YES"! . Not like back in the 1980s!
@cv Yes, our daughter does, I just wanted to verify. The UNaffordable Care Act is HORRENDOUS!
@a9 Thank You! This is our daughter and just want to verify what she told me. When I got laid off in the 1980s from GE, I got walked to the door and had it slammed in my face. I brought in millions of $$$$$$ and the good old boys saved themselves since we were in the Consulting Division called GEISCO. It was a bloodbath for us women. I was there 10 years. GEISCO was out of business within 2 years, anyway.
@OP Didn't you get access to the severance portal when you were notified you were affected? Everything you need, including how long VZ pays for Cobra, is contained in the portal.
Ask the GOP to vote for a single improvement on the ACA
HR
@a9 not true- there is always enrollment if you meet criteria , such as cobra benefits running out
Once cobra runs out, you absolutely CAN sign up for affordable care act.
Losing your health insurance due to cobra ending -you would qualify for special enrollment for ACA
You can also sign up once company paid cobra benefits expire. May actually be cheaper than Cobra- you just need to look into the costs before you make that decision.
@OP By law, COBRA lasts 18 months after termination (whether the former employer pays the premiums or not), and it may be substantially more affordable than "you have to pass it to see what's in it" Obamacare. Read all the documentation on COBRA, all the best to you.
Yes they will pay Cobra during severance period but once it runs out the ACA open enrollment is over, and you will miss it
you pay regular premiums until 2.16. vz wont pay your COBRA premium. what is severance period?ACA will be struck down soon with cheaper options and lesser coverage.
@a3 Thank you. HOwever, can you answer my question, also?
If you go on Obamacare get a Gold UHC or BCBS plan. Yes premiums are higher but deductibles and copays are less. We’re in our 50s and looking at this one…..
