Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Not a VSP

I think some people are missing the point of other posts regarding if one should be worried about their job or not. YES alot of people know we weren’t eligible for the VSP including myself, we get that, we know…….but that doesn’t mean we aren’t worried about our jobs either! Those that have a separation date know at some point their job ends, but what about the ones that dont have that? I see lots of people saying what their department head or PL tell them, seems like you all have way more information than those who weren’t eligible for VSP. If we’re NOT eligible for the vsp does that mean we’re safe? With a lot of us having less than 2 years what are the odds we’d get cut? Ive heard nothing regarding the call center……nearly everyone on ny team has been here over 2 years……so if they all get cut by accepting the VSP or Involuntary layoffs…..what would that mean for me or my other coworkers?

@ar

This is the answer.
Problem is, people are too shell-shocked to accept the inevitable.

No, there is no such thing as "safety" where your job is concerned.
Yes, Centene appears to be in the process of outsourcing as much as possible, and having the absolutely shady and dubiously "professional" Cog-in-the-evil-wheel-nizent "company" (mis)handling Americans' PHI, where all heII is surely about to be loosed.

You're being sold down the river.
They don't care about you, and they don't care about the company, and they don't care about OUR COUNTRY.
They only care about themselves, and their golden parachutes.
They don't care that they are contributing to the USA's destruction from within.
They are here for it, and gleefully participating in it, while laughing in and dangling carrots in front of your face.

The writing is on the wall.
This place is imploding financially, and they're setting the table for it to be devoured.
Their end goal is probably to sell it off into pieces, but in the meantime, they'll be not hesitating at all to cut costs by replacing your job with outsourced d!mwits, contracted numbskulls, and AI. None of which will be successful, that's when they'll sell it all out entirely.

LQQK for another job NOW, or start your own business NOW.
This place (along with many other corporations worldwide) doesn't care about its own country's citizen employees, and has literally made a deal with the dev!l.

Save yourself.
Ask God to guide you.
You can get through this, but relying on evil entities to help or have mercy on you isn't the way. They're not going to do it. You have to look elsewhere. And you have to do it NOW.

I’ve heard multiple things- I’ve heard we are safe, because enough people took the VSP. I’ve heard we are safe FOR NOW, but cuts will come next year. We got an email from our director this morning about three positions on my team being open and ready to be filled. Does that mean we are safe? I’m not sure what to think anymore.

@af based on the recent automation agreement with cognizant, whether you have been with the company, two years or 20 years, your job is not safe. They are going to eventually get rid of everyone in both the claims and the customer service department. Your PL has not said anything, probably because they don’t know as Centene is inconsistent and not sharing all information to those PLs is common. Once they meet all their goals, then they may soft launch the decision. As far as layoffs, they may try to get rid of the employees who earn high salaries first opposed to the employees who earn not as much. Then others based on whatever guidelines they use.

Claims and call centers have been hit. Recruiters have started in boxing people on LinkedIn hiring for contract member services/advocate that will start during Sept 2026.

@ad will the call center be affected by involuntary layoffs? If involuntary layoffs happen is it a last hired first fired or will those who accepted/not accepted the VSPS be cut over those people? Are people who didnt qualify for the VSP considered actually considered safe?

Ive seen so many other threads and comments from people in specific departments with way more information from their PL, HR or The Vsp hotline.

I’ve only been with the company since March of this year, so obviously didn’t get offered the vsp. I feel like I’m a sitting duck. Last one hired first one cut. We shall see. Hoping my PL has some more information soon.

@a9 i have and she has “no information”…… i had to tell her myself a couple weeks ago when this first came out that people were talking about it online and she had no idea. Im the only one on my direct team thats been here less than 2 years. So i feel like id get cut before anyone else on my team does even though they were offered the vsp

@a7 I hear ya! I’m new to the company I feel completely in the dark. My PL claims she doesn’t know anything and communication is very limited, I wish they would just rip the bandaid already!

@a6 thats not the point. The point is ive seen several threads, facebook posts etc…..so many people talking about what they heard from their PL, theyre able to call the vsp hotline, dates are extended to such and such, the corporate IT department is being affected as well as claims analyst, nursing review, etc……..all of those people/departments have an idea of whats happening……but me in claims call center have no information! Im tired of hearing “ no one is safe”…. Because it seems like the ones with dates and exits packages are more as risk. People just want to know

Let's remember that information shared here often depends on what individual leaders told their specific teams. Messages vary across departments, so the most accurate move is to talk to your PL or HR directly.

To simplify things, everyone falls into one of three categories right now: you accepted the VSP, you didn't qualify for it, or you are waiting on layoff decisions. Keep in mind that not qualifying for the VSP is not a guarantee that you will be laid off.

In a lay off, companies should be mixing the candidate pool by picking all races, both genders, some with disabilities, some veterans, new hires and long time employees. This helps them from being sued for discrimination. This means no one is safe
