Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

If you ever had any doubt about just how much you are valued here….

Understand that them moving the dates around at their discretion is quite the biggest indicator that they care nothing about you or your family. It’s a for profit business and I get that. But don’t patronize me with all the CenTeam stuff. It’s a lie and we all know it. Give me my agreed upon severance package and let’s part ways before I detest this company any more than I already do.

@dv vsp will be 5-10% and other will be layoff, my 2 cents.

@dr the math says it’s much lower than 10k people. That’s only $2400 per person. That would need to cover severance, COBRA, and other paid benefits they’re offering.

It’s likely they’re figuring out how to tell the story that they’re gonna need a much bigger boat. Yes, that was a JAWS reference. Get off of my lawn.

Earmarked Severance Capital: Centene's quarterly financial reporting revealed a $20 million to $24 million budget specifically allocated for voluntary separation packages. So about 10k employees will lose their jobs

@cy Just my 2 cents! We all have our own perspectives. If this isn't your cup of tea, feel free to just scroll on by. It's totally free to ignore, so no need to get worked up over it! 😊

@cf

Here you go, spamming this same post content, verbatim, copyy/pasting it onto thread after thread, in the Centene section of this site!

https://www.thelayoff.com/centene

You are very determined to try to do some sort of damage control here, by copy/pasting that same B.S. on thread after thread. "Leadership holds all the cards"...LOL

Is that why "leadership" had to backtrack and change the VSP policy, once they saw the deluge of numbers of people who applied for it? Suddenly the "leadership" tone changed from "take it or leave it" (where most people took the offer) to "hey wait a minute guys, we need to change things up a bit here...we need more time to process things."

GTFO with your B.S.
Everyone can see through it, and you're fooling no one.

@a6 where does it say “between”? I read on or about July 27.

Honestly, no one knows what leadership will do, and they hold all the cards. Speculating on every rumor isn't going to change the outcome. In the end, it boils down to two options: accept the Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) or risk an involuntary layoff. It’s a financial decision for the company, not a personal one. My best advice is to stop stressing over the noise and focus on preparing for whichever scenario comes your way.

@a7 They didn’t think of this before their own Big Beautiful Layoff plan?

@OP I think (just my opinion) the reason date was changed was due to not wanting the media to have information before the earnings call with shareholders on 07/28/26. Their way of trying to control the narrative.

moving the anticipated separation date to 9/4 wasn’t an issue as 9/1 is on a Tuesday. there’s a significant delay between your last day and when severance is paid out.

as far as the notification day moving, at first I was irritated, but I’ve moved on. they received more applications than expected and now have to strategize how to roll this out. they have to factor in where employees reside. unfortunately, I think they’re probably factoring in demographics; they shouldn’t though.

all they should be looking at is our employee ID, title, department, what we actually do and pay. employee IDs are identifying enough as those who have been here longer have IDs that begin with 1 and 2.

@a5 they will notify people "between" the 15th and 27th

@a4 Yeah - that makes sense. Having to wait to find out if you're 'approved', AND THEN be forced to work 2 more months.... BLAH it feels like a toxic relationship where the abuser is trying to remain in control.

@a3 Yeah, it’s the notification date that’s bothersome. That’s an almost two week delay.

I am not sure what it is, but I know I have no regret about applying for the VSP. The predicted last day was a Monday or a Tuesday of the second week in a pay period, while this updated date is a Friday. Obviously, I want this to all be over and to get what they are offering me, but I also like knowing I'll be ending on a full pay cycle.
