Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

8 hour RTO

Honestly I don’t understand why everyone is being punished for people who are abusing the system.

@a6 well said. For Risk, the top of the house for this one is kate (Cliffard the big red dog) toooooomeeee deciding she can track hours and do the bidding Flowers wants. Another Hudson Yards ivory tower look at me c-suite.

@ad Unpopular opinion, but I'd love nothing more than to learn how. I trust this goes beyond mouse jigglers and independent Teams mtgs. Obviously I won't ask, but could you at least recommend one key skill/system/resource I should learn/study to get closer to making this possible for myself? Much obliged.

@ay if that’s your take on all of this you have no idea what’s going on around you.

@aw Being punished with lack of flexibility. No more "I worked three 10-hour days this week, I'm going to dip out an hour early on Friday." No more "I'll be OOO for 1.5 hours for this doctor's appointment, but it's fine because all my projects are on schedule." No more managing our own time like competent adult professionals.

And just how are you being 'punished'??

I can add a data point: one of my coworkers was scolded for consistently working half days (4ish hours) in the office. Nothing official, just a "don't do that anymore."

I can't imagine they care about people who are consistently hitting 6+.

@a6 I think of they had more people coming in for 6-7 hours, they wouldn't be so aggressive. I've spoken to a few managers and they've been clear that this is going after those under 4 hours. What we don't know is what happens after they "fix" those problems. Go to those at 5 hours, then 6 and so on.

As had been said over and over again, its not about punishing specific people, its about making the working environment for everyone materially worse in the hopes of squeezing out more attrition, and setting up more documentable reasons to fire people with severance.

People keep wanting to find ways to blame their coworkers, while ignoring the blood-gargling psychopaths at the top of the house. If it wasn't 8 hours a day it would be some other thing designed to make people miserable. The cruelty is the point

Seriously it’s so annoying! There’s girl in HR that sits next to me is literally wedding planning instead of working. Printing wedding invites at work. Gone for hours at a time. It’s ridiculous they won’t go after people like that and forcing this sh-t on us all.
