Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Are they selling of Vz International?

So Dan laid off 13,000 people yesterday, 2,000 short of the 15K total we've all been hearing about for the last few weeks.

I'm hearing rumors from several sources that they plan to sell off Vz International (to BT) in April next year. Will the remaining 2,000 heads be from there do we think?

Some EU countries have been told operations are closing and there have been layoffs.
There is a whole EMEA reorganization under Sanjiv
It’s still ongoing and there will be more layoffs. This is in addition to the 13k layoffs
The rumors are BT merger/joint fell through earlier this year but discussions are still ongoing
Offices are bing closed and some of our network is also being sold off

@a5 all Verizon Business, think of them as a micro version of Verizon so they have marketing, hr, sales, commercial, finance etc

There is more complexity to lay someone off, especially in Europe. Europe actually has laws and rules that protect employees. Not saying it’s not gonna happen, a lot more hoops had to be jumped through. Example, try to lay someone off in Germany, you would be wrapped in so much red tape.

13k was for the US only. International are separate numbers and don't get the press. There are big announcements coming in Jan for other areas outside of core US
