Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

So what's your response going to be?

Say you get told in a few hours that you're being rif'd. What are you going to say in response to your boss? I know there's no options, just wondering how I'll take it if it happens and what to say in return, other than just sitting there d-mbfounded after giving them 18 years of my life.

As others have said, don't burn bridges. Wish them well and disconnect. It's highly likely that the person who communicates it to you will be caught up in an upcoming round anyway.

1st response - where is my package?
2nd response - I will be back within 30 days to turn in my equipment / badge.
3rd response - have a nice day

I recommend stringing it together in one sentence to save some of your 30 day
"me" time.

@a5 not true. Senior managers and ad were chosen by directors

Fu-k me for lacking pride or passion but I'm nothing but gracious in that conversation if it happens.

I've learned it's an extremely small world and you meet people again who you had no intentions of meeting. Burning bridges is not in your self interest.

Plus Verizon has been hands down the best job I've ever had. Best pay, best benefits, best work balance, just a great experience overall. I got nothing bad to say to or about my boss for the first time in my 25 year career.

If I see Dan next time I'm in Montana, on the other hand, he's getting a cow tu-d to the dome and we're testing out those karate moves

No where near your bosses fault or responsibility.. decision came from way above.

Go silently into the night, burn no bridges and leave the place the way you found it. In a few months they will be looking for the good of the harvest to bring us back to clean up this big mess. So, listen respectfully and do not give them the satisfaction of your own humiliation. Be the better person. Hold your chin high, taken in everything they say and then just walk out silently. You can cry when you get in your car or when you get home. This to shall pass.

@OP if they don’t give you all the details then ask what you need to ask. Other than that, stay silent. Don’t give them the satisfaction.
