Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Outsourcing Steals our future. Verizon or anywhere else.

Emails started going to US employees, slack channels for US employees only started showing up.
They are protecting the offshore employees from seeing this ugly carnage here in the US.

US companies keep making billions here, yet they fire American workers and ship jobs overseas. Outsourcing is booming 980 billion this year and projected to grow to 1.6 trillion in 5 years, all these are US jobs getting outsourced while families here drown under rising healthcare and living costs.

WE NEED TO REACT

The HIRE Act was built to protect OUR jobs, but Congress lets it rot while CEOs like Hans and Dan cash bonuses. If we don’t support laws for U.S. workers, no one will.
Call your lawmakers, flood them with requests to support US workers and not to cave in to outsourcing lobbiest:

The HIRE act is stuck with this committee https://www.finance.senate.gov/about/membership

Thanks for sharing. Will definitely be flooding mine with calls and emails. The outsourcing makes me sick. Though Dan did mention reducing outsourcing in his email this morning, fingers crossed.

Outsourcing is the biggest elephant in the room..while all the attention is on people with visas big corps moving their jobs offshore. No one talks about this in social media or news just like companies want it to be..

@a2 At a quarter of the cost.. The US has priced itself out of work with rising health costs and inflation. Don't expect it to get better any time soon with Trump in power. Healthcare is set to skyrocket in the coming months.

Outsourcing ruined American lives for decades and now they accelerated it in the name of AI.. there should be huge tax on outsourcing. They pay no taxes and invest nothing in this country but Americans loose their jobs

USA outsourced the virus to China, so yes, I can believe that!

Honestly, this is bigger than Verizon. They’re just following the playbook every U.S. company uses: fire here, hire overseas.
The real problem is laws: no taxes on outsourcing payments, no limits, no protections. Until Congress wakes up and steps in, all companies will keep doing it and layoffs will haunt US employees everywhere.

This has been going on in the tech world since the late 1990's. Jobs were outsourced to India, China (yes, if you can believe that), Poland, Argentina, and many others.

I am honestly surprised it has taken this long to reach Verizon.

The American worker is getting sc--wed over in the process. A NO ONE (R or D) does anything because they all take money from the lobbyists.

H1b is actually a better deal. Rather than have a 10k people center in India, its better to have 500 of them here. At least they contribute to the IRS, unless ofcourse they r undercutting us

Yup, Verizon keeps announcing new HQs in India and whenever we lose someone in the team two get hired in India.
