Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Voice Survey?

With everything that’s been happening lately, I’m finding myself wondering how candid I can or should truly be. I know the survey is presented as “confidential,” but I’m curious whether others feel comfortable giving completely honest feedback or if you’re holding back because of concerns about confidentiality or potential repercussions.

No judgment either way, I’m genuinely interested in how others are approaching it.

I answered every MS question with extreme neutrality and pointed back to the fact that my PL is incredible (which is an understatement). I established how asking about “results” (measurable impact) is not possible when you don’t know what progress is being measured by. Saying MS is data-driven then asking what people think with no data to evaluate is nonsensical. Totally a CYA survey for senior leadership.

My advice is not to think about these surveys as obligations to be truthful and open. It's just a way to give your people leader feedback and tips, and a way for senior leaders and HR to identify people leaders with issues.

Unless your team scores really badly, usually no one except your direct PL looks at them. If your team scores your PL really highly, it might make them look good to their boss, if their boss is paying attention to that stuff. With the state Centene is in right now, everyone expects engagement scores to crater.

These always seem like an enormous waste of time.

Serious question: what decisions or changes in tactics or strategy are made with the data collected in these surveys?

Former Centene VP here—it’s totally confidential unless you give away your identity in some way in the comments. An example of this is someone on a small team complaining about a specific incident that identifies them.

@a2 Me too!!! When I left in 2021, they were hounding us to do this survey or some type of survey. So much, they had my supervisor call me on my cell about it because I did not want to take the survey initially. I was brutally honest and a few weeks later....
well you know.

As a leader who sees the results not only for my reporting line but for the whole department I’m in - it is TOTALLY confidential.

I don't believe the "it's anonymous and confidential" BS. Moreover, it's a pointless exercise and complete waste of time.

I suggest if you want to keep your job (even for a little while) that you be careful with what you say. The one time I dropped my filter and decided to be fully honest about a response, I received my walking papers a week later and was terminated. This was after 11 years of service to the company.
