I have recently been in my position 20 years. Know what I got for it? A hat? NO A pen? NO A nice email of congratulations? Nope. Nothing, nada, zilch. That's how everyone should know that OT is in such bad financial shape that they cannot properly recognize service. I mean, how broke do we have to be that I can't even get some stupid points to buy some $50 piece of cr-p item? And if it's not being broke but just being total pieces of cr-p unwilling to honor loyal service over the years, that's worse....maybe it's because I came from an acquisition? Oh wait, we all did....

when I first entered the workforce in the late 90s and got a job at a large software company, it was a big morale booster as I saw employees with only 5 years get a weekend hotel stay somewhere, or an expensive leather jacket, and other nice things to choose from.
That all died after the bubble burst to a large degree. Another 5 years and it was all gone.
Why are you still in OTEX? I left 12 years ago after 24 years and it was best thing I ever done. Mark B. is a loser with big ego, who created bad atmosphere and outsourced Canadian jobs to India with great support from chairman of the board. This company is doomed.
The canary in the coal mine for this lack of care was when they stopped doing the birthday chocolates around ten years ago. They slowly started pulling things back from that point.
Yep. 25 years last January. Nada, nothing. I don’t even think my manager thanked me. Just one of the many reasons I left a month ago. Good luck, everyone. I do wish you the best.
@ak It's true-- I got my 1, my 5, my 10, and my 15. And you could hang on to them for a while if there wasn't anything you wanted in the redemption shop.
I don't think I cashed in my 10 until three years later when there was a nice set of all clad pots listed.
Yup they got rid of the rewards a few years ago. Which is absolutely garbage.

I have the ability to redeem now but I've missed milestones and project completions from times it was shut off.
Unfortunately that doesn't offer much for a dept that doesn't use them at all though.
When I hit ten years I got one of those "personalized" web pages where people are supposed to write nice things. I got a robo-comment under Mark B's name and nothing else -- ahole manager couldn't be bothered to even write "congrats", let alone share the link with peers who would have done something if they'd known.
I don't care about the t-shirt or whatever that I didn't get. The whole thing stank of hypocrisy; it would have been better for them to do nothing at all than to do that. Acknowledge a milestone or don't, but don't pretend so some ELT goon can score "employee recognition" points.
@OP ...and here I thought the sh---y little backpack I got from MF for 20 was an insult (it was). But this just highlights the issues at OT. As previous posters have said (I'm paraphrasing), OT really doesn't give a rat's a-s about their minions. We're all just bad numbers on a spreadsheet, which need to be reduced or eliminated.
But, be sure to do your self-review this week. You might even get a 2% raise before they lay you off in July.

Twenty years is a massive milestone, and I completely understand why you are angry. You have every right to be frustrated. Dedicating two decades of your career to this company especially navigating through acquisitions and all the changes that come with them deserves genuine recognition, not radio silence.
To be completely candid with you, dropping the ball on this isn't a symptom of OpenText being in bad financial shape or unable to afford a catalog gift. It is because the remaining ELT don’t care about employees. They see you as an expense that can be replaced by an AI bot. My suggestion to you is to not have a 21st anniversary with OpenText.
Yup. Thirty years for me this year and nothing. Complete slap in the face. Whomever made the decision to cancel the rewards program is an absolute I'll go with ahole.
