How many layoffs have we survived just in the last three years? I lost count. I'm not even joking. Every single round takes a major toll on our mental and in some cases physical health. So much stressing, so much anxiety is not good for any of us, and we have to go through it basically all the time. It's inhumane.

This is a legitimate question. There are countries that have explicit laws that require employers to protect workers mental well-being and manage psychological risks.
I live in one of those countries and am considering going out on stress leave given the emotional turmoil each time this happens.

@a8 Yeah gov jobs were a safe bet not so long ago, but now even they are not immune to downsizing.

It affects people all the way up. In Zoom meetings at Oracle people look so unwell!

Not only mental affect, layoff after layoff cause much handover burdens
If there is a certain reduction plan, I want them to do it in one time, not doing every six months.
Loyalty and motivation fall, some lose health, some try to flatter, some begin to finding fault with others to protect self.
Not a great situation.
Holding a townhall in this timing as if there wasn’t any rif, makes us more feel humiliated.
When I was with Oracle, my blood pressure was 158/100 and I was about to be put on blood pressure meds. Since leaving I’m down at 127/70 with no medication.
OP, why have you stayed? If it is impacting your mental health then leave. Why are you enduring the pain? The solution is simple.
Agree. The Layoff Bot still needs some work. Eventually, it should be able to convince people that being layed off is a good thing and make the experience painless.

@a2 If you work for any large corporation you should plan financially to be put out to pasture in your 50's.
Small wonder so many seek government jobs.
