I informally volunteered for any RIF in the U.S. No feedback yet from management. Hoping they snip me next week. Will keep y'all posted as the process unfolds. Or doesn't unfold.

@d1 this is different from quitting.
Some of my colleagues actually tell that
´I’m looking forward to my retirement life’
´I’m preparing well for my next career’
´I like this job, but I worked enough. So I will accept the severance on the spot’
Those are the sample of implications of waiting for the severance.
And this will help their manager much when the next RIF round start.
Don’t just quit if you want to save your colleagues but do this informal proposal
Not sure why you would "volunteer" as opposed to just quitting. If you volunteer, they won't pay severance because it was voluntary. The days of people hoping they'll "get a package" are long gone.
@by I certainly hope so. But they were a little surprised when I volunteered.
Your management had probably already volunteered you.
I told my boss I’d be happy to volunteer as well. I never told my boss I been working another job over the last year
I volunteered a few weeks ago. Hoping I can save somebody’s job on my team. I’m ready to go.
