Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

A November 2027 Separation Date Is Insane

there are five extended separation dates according to the updated FAQ:

  • December 2026
  • March 2027
  • May 2027
  • August 2027
  • November 2027

the FAQ details how extended separation dates would impact severance benefits... but being asked to stay until November 2027 is just wild AF to me. my limit is December 2026 and that's pushing it, 'cause I'm over it.

@OP What is up with having made decisions on extending the dates but not being able to supply anyone with their revised document showing how their package will change?

I was given a Nov 2027 date. The worst part is that this whole thing was initially presented with a Sept 2026 term date. Then they pushed it out slightly to possibly later in the year. When we actually filled out the application it did not mention any possible date of 16 months from now! If I had any indication it would be out that far I would not have applied. They pitched it as something for staff that were already considering quitting or retiring. And made it seem imminent. This was a bait-and-switch. Or it was aimed at certain staff immediately, other staff ongoing, without being at all clear about it. Least transparent move possible by a Corporation which obviously doesn't concern itself with their employees' welfare in any great degree

I received my email a few minutes ago with separation date of Sept 4, 2026. Wonder why the extra extended dates?

they never had any intention of allowing us to seek employment elsewhere on a reasonable timeline. they want people to leave before their separation date… obviously to avoid the severance payout. it’s truly shameful and inhumane.

@a8 if the target was not met for your business area, layoffs are still happening.

@a5 yes, I was thinking the same thing. if I was going to get my full prorated amount for my 2026 bonus, with a 2027 separation date, now my bonus is subjected to whatever budget is approved for everyone?

I was already irritated about not receiving full bonus this year.

I wonder how this affect the subsequent layoffs that were supposed to happen in August for those that did not apply for VSP

@OP see what it says about bonuses for 2027 separation dates. Hard to believe they can renege like that when it was part of the offer to get bonus paid.

So what? More people applied for VSP than they expected, now they are holding people hostage for a year?????! If the employees quit before then, they don’t qualify for VSP, this is some bullsh-t management. Can we sue them for this entire sh-tshow?

@a1 I feel like anyone they slate for a November 2027 date (he-l any 2027 date tbh), they really do not want to pay out severance for that individual.

Thats hilarious. Basically holding people hostage! That feels like something is wrong that a VSP hold can go on for a year. I hope they lose more members because of their reputation. Maybe they're planning on selling, then we can kiss the VSP goodbye
