Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

SKO and Linked In Celebrations Gross

My LinkedIn feed has been filled with pictures and comments about how great the Oracle kickoff was in Vegas this week. Followed by posts and repost of great economic news of a record year of sales.

Am I the only one who finds it offensive that in the face of tens of thousands of people laid off since August of 2025 that our former coworkers and executives celebrated what appears to have been an excellent year while those impacted by the layoff, got to watch both big spending in Vegas and outstanding numbers.

I understand they made a big deal out of the fact that partners footed the bill for the most part for SKO, but the optics are terrible and probably not 100% true.

My last comment would be that for rank-and-file employees that do not benefit the same way that say the new CFO , the C-Suite or other senior executives do reposting that material is hilarious. Don’t think you’re anything more than a name on a spreadsheet.

What it really is is just a stark reminder that these types of companies just keep moving. Meanwhile terrible severance packages versus Meta and longtime employees trying to figure out what happened and why they’re on the outside.

The fact that they went forward after all that restructuring with the week that they did says it all!!!

@h7 ... or he worked at a bunch of sh*tty companies. Amazingly, they are out there.

But the guy did have a point, companies DO lay off then find something to celebrate and they're not going to let a little thing like putting people out of work keep them from having their little party.

"if you have been laid off as much as you claim you can't be bringing much to the job. "

HEARTLESS

@bn How could you possibly know if I exaggerate a lot or not? I don't comment that often at all and haven't talked about myself - unless you have me confused with someone else.

@b1 you do exaggerate a lot. I doubt that "been holding down jobs longer than you have been alive", I stated that I took an early retirement offer and that was in 2016 so do some simple math and you can guess I am probably as old or older than you. Any time I have left a job it was by my choice.

@an Or I'm just old and did factory work during the 70s and 80s. Maybe been holding down jobs longer than you have been alive.

Or I could have exaggerated how many times I've been laid off. Hint: it was more than twice.

They're just Lemmings doing free social media marketing for O to try to raise the stock price. (It doesn't affect the smart investors, which is why the stock is tanking.)

@an Man, shut up and stop blaming the working class for not trying hard enough. Get outta here with that.

@a8 if you have been laid off as much as you claim you can't be bringing much to the job. Most people I know have never been laid off and if they have it is never more than once. I took an early retirement buyout once during a good job market. I ended up being offered a job by that company about 2 years later because they needed my skills. I was rehired at a higher grade and for a lot more money.

If you have really made the layoff list "so many times" as you stated you might want to do some self reflection on you job skills and work ethic. Maybe you are in the wrong field.

@OP I know exactly how you feel. I've been laid off so many times over the course of my life, and every time - EVERY TIME - there is some event where the company that laid you off celebrates some event, great numbers, the sky's the limit. Meanwhile the employees that were discarded like used Kleenex are struggling to pay rent and feed their families watching them pop the champaign.

The takeaway is: This isn't anything new and Oracle isn't much worse than other big companies doing the same thing. Par for the course.

Run by bebt taking, no actual staff to do the 550 Billion Remaining Performance Obligations due to layoffs. .Big management headcount that doesn't actually do the work.
A Formula for a disaster.
