Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I'm paralyzed by indecision

I know I should leave. Everything points to it. I have an open invitation at a friend's startup. But I'm stuck, unable to take the first step. I hate that I'm choosing to be miserable because I'm too scared to make a change. Dell is the only thing I've known for so long. I know many who feel the same way. It's almost like some weird type of Stockholm Syndrome at this point.

@OP if you have an offer, go. I would if I did. It's not getting any better, probably forever.

@OP Dell caused you a permanent disability, you were using one neuron for years, any change would require you to activate more brain cells, good luck.

Ignore the non compassionate imbeceles that replied to your post. As a person that has been around the block I will tell you that overcomming fear/doubt is what made me successful. Dell is not a good company, it is filled with many narcissistic a-s kissers that will do anything to get to the next level.

Go challenge yourself and do great things!

I would tell you to, but from what I read, seems you might not make it at a startup. It might sound cool, but be prepared for 7 day weeks, 14 hour days and no time off for a year or two until they're profitable. If you can't do that and don't have the savings to keep you afloat if it crashes and burns then don't.

I guess it is hard to leave the comfort zone even though the gaslighting and politics after some time typically you learn to deal with it and at the startup you have to start fresh and is unknown what you may encounter.

If you think about the new job does it make you feel excited about the future (before the worry sets in)? If so, it might be worth the risk! Things are not going to change for the better in Dell, at least you have the chance of better in the new job.

If you do move, the first few months in any new job is hard so don't worry if you feel regret in the first few months.
